I had never seen one of these before or even thought about it really. So, I will pay L$75 to the first person to reply to this thread with the specifics on what the attached picture is. "A plant" is not good enough, I want the specifics. Good luck!

That thar be cashews! One of my favorite nuts.

Botanical name: anacardium occidentale The cashew is native to the arid southeast zone of Brazil, though India has become the principal producer of this nut, due to the facility with which it adapted to the climate. As can be observed in the photo, the cashew consists of two parts: the nut, which is the actual fruit and is known in other countries as the cashew nut, and a second part which is really the flower stalk that has transformed into the juicy "apple of the Mara". The nut is rich in oils, while the apple is rich in vitamin C and is highly diuretic. When the apple is quite ripe it can be used in preserves mixed with sugar and referred to as "marapasa," or the Mara raisin. The shell of the nut is very toxic and is difficult to toast, and for this reason is not appropriate for preparation in the home. In Costa Rica's Caribbean slope, the first cashew fruits can be harvested in late March until the end of May.

Very close! First four letters are the same in the romanised name!

I give up. I thought it was longan when langsat was wrong. The longan is also called, "lungan" and "longyen", are either of those right?
