I'm curious about what people do with the $L they both get as a stipend and make through various other means.

What I'm getting out of SL, most of all, is *fun*.

I just started selling 14 days ago. And if i would cash out now, it would cover my sl costs that i have made until now, and a pizza. But that also includes lindens i earned by winning Tringo, Show and Tell and some other wacky things. Have hardly spent it on anything.

I get an education on how a fair percentage of people react to the concept of virtual worlds and virtual goods; as well as a sense of what they do or do not understand about how the real world operates - specifically wrt issues surrounding intellectual property. For someone in my position, that's much more valuable at this point than any money I could be making in SL.
[Edit: and btw, none of those options apply to me. I've never "made" any money in SL since neither the stipend nor the few games of Tringo I've won were intentionally money-making activities on my part] |

It is fun, and creatively satisfying, profitable if you are creative (bows to RL friend Wynx) and hilarious most of the time, but when you are encouraged to yank your 1 prim wings off and shave your head to hang out somewhere it becomes tedious.

Kind of a broad assumption that everything that anyone gets out of SL is related to money. That's just crazy! ![]() No one I know plays for money really at all. Sorry I should have specified, I'm curious about what people do with the $L they both get as a stipend and make through various other means. Csven - when I say "make enough $L" in the poll I am including the stipend in that. I realize the wording implies working for the $L but that is not what I meant....just to clarify the apparent confusion. Perhaps I should have said "I get enough $L...." |

I dont take any sum of money out of SecondLife at all.
I do get however: - Lots of fun - To meet lots of people - some friendly, some less - To create alot of fun things to tinker with - Etc'. Who needs psuedo-virtual money when you got this? ![]() |

What do I get out of SL?
I get to explore a creative side that I never really knew I had until playing SL. I get to hang out with endearing friends who enhance my SL and RL for that matter ![]() I get to participate in a virtual world unlike any that I have seen before, where the possibilities are endless ![]() _____________________

well, on the monetary side, I get enough to buy something IF it catches my eye. Mostly, I've used the money I have to help out new players. I don't make content, except for a few things I use myself, I come here to enjoy my time with my friends.
So, all in all, what I get out of SL is a feeling of family. There are those I love dearly, and those that I don't even like. ![]() Peace, Joseph |
