These types of posts getting very old. Names named, chat logs, accusations, details, hurtful stuff. I dont really want to read them, but they are like car wrecks, hard not to rubberneck. I have my own opinions (or not) about people, I dont want to be forced to see yours and influence mine, its not fair.
Im griping I know, but I havent named names and I have not sited specific examples. The problem to the point, not the gory details. If you have an issue you feel you need to air, but cant do it in generic terms, dont do it. Be nice people, take care of issues through proper channels, please dont air the details here.
We have been warned not to do this by Forum Moderators. I know the moderators dont want to seem like they are censoring us, but they need to enforce forum policy and delete these threads when they appear. They dont benefit anyone and we dont need to see them.

I agree completely... I think its tacky (for lack of a better word) to post chat logs on the forums. It easily tarnishes people's image and takes away from any good things they may have done in SL & does nothing good for the community.

Plus, we have no way of knowing what might have gone on just before the log excerpt. Seeing an argument in the logs, we have no way of knowing if one or the other parties tried politely to resolve the situation before it escalated into an argument.

heh! I just posted a comment very much along these lines in yet-another-look-how-hard-done-by-I-was-by-this-person post before I got to yours, Loki. In fact, allow me to quote myself From: someone And frankly, while I'm on the subject, I'm also getting a little ticked off with the amount of chat logs that are getting pasted into the forums to expose some perceived injustice or something.
I've seen people be banned for planting a listening relay device that can pick up and broadcast public chat .... what's really different about cutting and pasting chat here?

I pretty much stop reading as soon as I see a chat log posted. It's always a sign of something I'm pretty sure I don't want to be in the middle of.

Agree here also. There's too much fun to be had in SL to bother with egos-in-collision! Besides let's not confuse SL with RL.

Max, that is so obviously a forgery, "Philip" has only one "l" as shown in the following chat log:
Philip Linden: Malachi, u R teh r0x0rz, can I give you Linden Lab? Malachi Petunia: Gee, thanks, but I'm a little busy for that. Philip Linden: Okay, can you lend me some L$ for the subway project then? Malachi Petunia: Sure, no problem, will L$28,000,000,000 be enough? Philip Linden: c001 d00d!!!!! thx!
See, it isn't hard to be helpful.

I endorse these ideals/thoughts/standards.
Oh and also:
Philip Linden: Why does everyone keep faking chat-logs with me? Oz Spade: Because they want to be cool. Philip Linden: Ah, ok, want to go play with Hippos? Oz Spade: YES!!
*Oz and Philip skip hand in hand through the new southern sims toward the sunset off into the unknown Hippo sim*
Hey... this brings up an interisting off topic idea... *scampers off to post a new thread*

Colin Linden: Well Pitu, there go Philip and Oz, I guess it is time for us to take over control. Pituca Chang: Sure is Colin, now that they are out of the way, let's get the gang and get to work getting LL back into shape. Colin Linden: Sure thing I will IM Garth, Char, Lee and Jeff you IM the rest of them. Pituca Chang: You know what Phillips problem is don't you? Colin Linden: What? Pituca Chang: He needs me to organize his inventory. Pituca Chang: Don't forget Haney too, we can't leave him out, he owns too much of SL's land. Colin Linden: You know who Oz Spade really is don't you? It is Governor Linden's mule account.
And off Colin and Pitu go to control the SL Universe.

Having been passed chat logs of other people's arguments (YUCK! Scamble for discard button), and having had chat logs I didn't know existed thrown in my face at a later date (the content of said logs dealing with issues I mistakenly assumed had been resolved weeks earlier), I have to agree that posting log transcripts at the very least tacky, and really seems to be throwing one's dignity, not to mention privacy, out the window, as a trade off to pull people towards one's point of view. One never gets to see what was said before and after the excerpt. Was the percieved *bad guy/girl* pushed to react, however inappropriate the reaction? Have the log(s) been manipulated? As the consumers of it here on the forums we have no way of knowing. That is why I wish they would go away.

Boy do I wish I was the Guvna's Mule.
... er... that doesn't sound right.
I think the whole log reason is a reason why we should have encrypted log files so that Lindens can *know* its valid or not.
Of course there would be two copies of every log, encrypted, and uncrypted, encrypted for Lindens, uncrypted for your own medling.

Angel, I don't believe in all honesty that its necessary to point a finger in a negative way at a specific individual on the public forums no matter what the offense. Thing is for everyone else reading it there is no history. Who know's maybe the other party was offended just as badly by that person the day before? ( I know nothing I'm just giving a crappy vague example) Hell throwin it on a note card & giving it to all your friends is a better way to go about getting the message across to people that it should matter to. More so than having it open for public discussion to people who don't know the situation at all. The forums shouldn't be about trying to bring the bad guy down.. and ya let a few do it ... you open the freaking floodgates. I prefer to read the forums to obtain knowledge not rehash someone else's drama.

On the other hand it certainly is nice for anyone to do anything to anyone else, in world and never be held accountable for anything they do. Oh yes lets protect these asses from being shown in public what for they realy are.
This is my honest opinion.
I dont think anyone can sit back and say what they will do until they have been completly screwed over.

I totally agree! SL is just that...Second Life...partially real, but not totally. I have made some really excellent friends in here, and I enjoy connecting with them in this type of setting.. However, Real Life is where I truly live. If someone doesn't want to discuss a problem with you in SL, maybe the best thing to do is just go down the road to the next person and start a friendship with them. SL is a big place, and if you don't want to see someone, there are plenty of places to go and things to do. I, too, do not like hearing about these kinds of things in this forum. Just my two cents' worth. Thank you.
