Improved place for combat, maybe... but combat itself still kinda sucks. :p

Anyhoo- it's nice to know they're going to make Clyde and Marunogere safer sims ;)

I think this might be great, people need more room to shoot each other.

I hope the weapons testing place will at least at times be a place where you can just shoot the heck out of each other.

I'm sure the program's limitations do make the combat less fun than it could be for skilled virtual combatants but the program should be getting better as time goes on so it's good to have the sims getting prepared for that time.

You think that scripted guns and damage zones are combat?

LOL - you should see one of the fights ive had with my ex Girl Friend.

Now thats Second Life Combat. There was even collateral damage.

I wonder if that's why Rizal has been mostly cleared out.

Sabin Linden has this funny little game in Rizal, you push a button and these little man-things come running out in orange and green (IIRC), and you run over them to kill them. It's kind of like some old arcade game, I forget the name ATM.

Can we move Jessie too? Please? Pretty pretty please with sugar on top?

It's going to be very confusing to have a combat island area... then one sim connected to the grid that's combat also. And it'll be splitting up the combat areas.

It'd make more sense to put them ALL together.

I disagree - the 3-sim setup is appropriate by itself - it acts as its own arena.
The testing zone *definitely* needs to be seperate - but near the other zones was a good idea.

Jessie ... well, has anyone but WWIIOL cared about Jessie ... like, ever? :D lol

Second Life combat can be very fun. When it gets lame and boring is when some rich kiddie comes in with phantom shields and homing guns and floats around impervious to everything. Then comes the time when EVERYONE has the damn shield and everyone just stands around doing nothing because no one can be hurt.

Non-homing, semi-auto weapons ftw.

Since you can't fly between the testing area and the combat areas what difference does it make whether the testing area is near the combat sims on the grid?

Well if you have the sims that have something to do with combat/guns all in one place its convinient.. If just in the mind.. So you can think, I'm gonna go do some gun stuff now, north east of the map..

Also, if your testing your gun, then decide to go use it in the combat areas, the map will be positioned over where you are currently, no need to scroll :D

Northeast? Southwest for the main grid, close to center if you include the extremely large number of private island sims.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of people who seem to be too slow on the uptake as to the new combat zones. There was a guy a couple nights ago there who spammed shot the weapon testing area, who didn't know where Rausch had been moved to and thought the weapons sandbox was the NEW Rausch.

BTW, I'd like to know what the policy on griefing and ARs hold in the weapon testing area. I had some other guy leave his attack drones on the sim, shooting at anything that moved.

Devilock Onizuka, the sit shields will be neutralized as of 1.7, with the new volume detect collision setup, so you can pass damage commands and other goodies to phantom AVs. Since sit shields tend to slow you down, even with as a non-physics mover scripting, it would make you a sitting duck (pardon the pun). I'd like to see a major cramp on homing weapons by the introduction of an "Agent key jammer" or something that returns bogus key information instead of the key of an Agent. It would be practically usesless for other reasons and you might not be able to use any weapon with it, since it would screw up your own permissions to objects, but it would be a handy tool against homing weapons.

How long has it been since someone set off a nuke in world and killed everyone in a sim? :: pines for the old days ::
