The Case of the Missing Castles

I've scoured the forum for a better place to post this and have come up empty, so I apologize if this is out of place here:

A few days ago (Friday or Saturday) I spent several hours using the in-game find function to shop for prefab houses. At some point I ended up at a vendor near Vindi Vindaloo's shop in Fujin that had a variety of prefab castles for sale, with names like "Castle DarkStar," "Castle DarkStar II," something like "Castle Mordred," and a couple of Celtic-style castles. The vendor gave an info card that you could use to teleport to a region called "Camelot" where all the castles were set up so you could tour them, which I did. I really liked the one called Castle DarkStar, but decided to think about it for an hour or two before making that large a purchase. A couple of hours later I decided I really wanted it, so I went back to the original vendor to make the purchase. The vendor was gone! Since I still had the info card with me, I tried to teleport back to the Camelot display area but received the "can't teleport to that location" error message. When I look for Camelot on the map, there's just open water at the site. Over the past couple of days I've tried finding both vendor and Camelot numerous times, but they're both still gone.

The person listed as the creator of the info card is Tyra Valkyrie, but she hasn't responded to an IM I sent to her about this.

Basically, I'm hoping that someone here can give me more information about this situation, or even better, direct me to where I can purchase that Castle DarkStar prefab. I really want it, and it seems like an almost ridiculously bad coincidence that my opportunity to buy it has gone forever just because I delayed deciding for a couple of hours.

Camelot, being an island I beleive, can be made "invisible"/public by the sim owners. Private island sims can also disappear for the same reasons that you get Missing Image results when looking at the mainland Map - server problems.

My suggestion, as far as your current issue - wanting to buy a particular item - is to contact the Camelot Merchants Association Group. One of them can probably help you find the person you need to contact to buy your castle. Good luck.

Historically, there's no such thing. The Celts never built castles as such, just forts and later Roman style villas. By the time castles became vogue, the Anglo-Saxons had pushed out the Celts almost completely. Most of the castles you'd see in Wales are actually Norman.

To the best of my knowledge, Camelot and it's owner are no longer in the game. The island may have been sold already, turned over to LL, or just hidden. It is a shame, her castles were very well done.

Did I? It's possible. I didn't even know you had a castle trivia. But I am a Celt in RL, and I do read a lot of history.

Actually, I might have a spare Castle Darkstar that I could part with. I had at one time bought every castle that Tyra made and did have two of some of them (she did at some point change the permissions though so I have to see which ones I have). I will have to check my inventory when I get back in SL this evening. Actually, it's in an Alt's inventory so if you get a strange IM about castles this evening it might be from me.

Yes, hun it was long ago n a far away place called Dore back when the world was young and Open Beta had just started for some.

Back in the day when Crim and I used to Jump from Parapit to Parapit on my Castle n Immaculate and then moving to Taber.

Ah but I digress a castle of that size will not exist today as I can no longer afford it as the Romans abandoned me and the Sexxons overran SL...LOL

Thanks for the offer, Dale. Very kind of you. But the problem has been solved. Tyra just popped into SL briefly to wrap up her affairs before quitting the game, got my desperation IM, and gave me a copy of the castle for free. What a sweetie! I'm sorry to see her go.

Ohh no, another great builder gone. I spent many a peaceful and quiet hour sitting in her chateau playing mahjonng.

I truly wanted one of these castles. I wish she had left them entrusted to someone, rather than losing such beautiful prefabs

An odd question ..related to this thread:

I remember Tyra Valkyrie just recently (within the last month) was selling a 'castle with moat and dungeon' on SLExChange .. and now it's no longer available or listed there.

Apparently she's left SL.

Does anyone have one they are willing to sell?

Or is anyone able to contact Tyra for a sale of one?

Alternately. did she sell her prefab inventory to another person in world to sell in her stead?
