Ok, I might be totaly misguided here but something doesn't seem right. I know taxes have been buggy, but last tax day I ended up with around 2k something, which seemed to make sense, between object taxes and land taxes. I was building so I went down to around 1k still had pretty much. Today I log in and i have 418, uh, wtf? Another friend said they gained money they lost during the tax bug, so is my loss a "fix"? If so, why should I have to pay for a bug? Reviewing the changes it says I have a -1089 property maintnence, My property costs less than that on taxes even BEFORE neighbor discount, after neighbor discount it costs (if my math is right) 492. Heres my Account History review, tell me if I'm missing something obviouse... Wednesday Nov 5, 2003 Object Maintenance -257 Property Maintenance -1089 Light Maintenance -2 Adjustment (Linden Lab) -2358 Dwell Bonus 15 Adjustment (Linden Lab) 413 Stipend 1000 Rating Bonus 1017 Total -1261 (my current balance is 41

Did anyone else have a second tax day today, Wednesday? I got taxed yesterday, but when I logged in today, I got another account update window, and my balance dropped again.
Losing some money on tax day is normal, but having two tax days in a row is kind of harsh.

I appeared to have a second tax day ... it almost looks like I was refunded yesterdays taxes, charged yesterdays stipends/bonus then awarded todays stipend bonus and charged taxes today. I think.... I would have to look at the numbers closer to be sure.

Your Second Tax Day:
As Robin posted in the announcements, we had to fix taxes again with 1.1.4
This time we chose to pull the stipends and taxes which weren't charged correctly and rerun the correct numbers. So, you will see a credit for your taxes being refunded and a debit, which was your stipend being pulled back, then the new taxes and stipends being run.
The two main issues we addressed with the fix had to do with land tax calculation, where some people were being incorrectly assessed on more land than they owned and others were being taxed for less than they owned. The end result from an economic standpoint was basically a push, however, it's not fair for us to ask for someone to bear the tax burden of another persons land.
The second major issue was stipends, which you have been correctly pointing out were off, mostly on the low side.
However, the main fix we needed to do was the estimator.
While no one probably likes taxes, without knowing what they will be leaves you no time for planning etc. That has now been fixed, and, while yesterday's numbers may be a bit off, todays should show the correct estimations of your taxes, so next week's assessment will not be coming out of left field.

I think this fix was unwise on Linden's side. It's not our fault that taxes were being incorrectly reported, a lot of people rely on the reports provided and ended up unexpectedly losing a lot of money yesterday. In my humble opinion a far better solution would be to undo the taxing on the bugged week and declare it a tax pardon week so that nobody loses or gains any money unexpectedly.

I have absolutely no clue how to manage or calculate taxes.
Can't there be a class on this?
As a newbie, I'm quite paranoid to spend anything and I'm a bit worried to even build sometimes...probably not a good thing and I'm probably not the only noob that feels this way.

So we wont get refunded for money unexpectedly lost untill next week? Or not at all? I'm a bit confused on this, I kind of get what you're saying but then the fact that my estimate for next week is what I had at the end of Tuesday would still mean I was debited 2k for unaccounted reasons, and I haven't gotten credited any extra money today(besides dwell from yesterday). So is credited money in progress, not at all, or did i miss something? Also I agree with a tax class, I would like to attend one, heh, there are some explinations in the Help but same with building and scripting and there are classes for both of those too. Tax class would be a great idea
