I got my first LCD TV a few years back and I use a LCD monitor for my PC and now I find I can't stand to watch that old fashioned CRT stuff. Am I the only one with this afflication? Is there a cure for it?

I just got my first LCD computer monitors a few weeks ago. I LOVE them! I finally have dual monitor desktops again. They're a lot more accurate than the CRT I was using before and I find they cause a lot less eyestrain. I really want an LCD or plasma HDTV but that's not going to happen until the prices come down a lot more. I'd probably go LCD since plasmas degrade over time, but there are new technologies coming out very soon that will likely be better and cheaper.

Quite the opposite here. I couldnt give up 2560x1920 without a fight. High quality CRT's are still a mile ahead of LCD in terms of colour gamut & resolution. It's a shame people like Sony shut down their high-end CRT monitor divisions to make room for LCD.

I paid a fortune for my Sharp LCD TV and I swear it looks better than real life! I know that's not possible or is it?

I had always thought the same Adam, but I ditched my viewsonic pro series CRT for two viewsonic 21" 1600x1200 pro series LCDs and they have a much better contrast range in terms of displaying the full lower end. I had no idea how much of the lower end of the grayscale was displaying as black. Now if only my video cards were beefy enough to run dual desktop at 3200x1200 :D

I'm a relatively new adopter of LCD as well. I got my first home LCD earlier this year. 19 inches of bliss.

Glare is a thing of the past! Everything looks much clearer, as well. I no longer get refresh-related headaches after long spells at the computer.

It's amazing how far LCD displays have come, too. I remember when I was a kid, visiting the computer stores, I'd see these thick, chunky LCD monitors that you had to stand directly in front of in order to see anything. I wasn't really impressed back then.

I'm looking forward to excising CRT displays from my life altogether, but I'm a brokeass (but graduating!) student, so not for awhile. :)

It's getting better, but my roommates brand-spanking-new Apple Cinema Display still is lacklustre compared to my array of Sony Trinitrons. :) (1x 24" + 4x 19";)

I'd like to have an LCD monitor, but the resolution isn't high enough for me (1152x864) without having to get a very expensive one.

I guess I'm old fashioned. To me, LCD screens just don't look as good as higher resolution CRTs. I look at widescreen LCD and plasma displays and I can see the pixels pop out, especially in grey, black and dark colored images. The newer displays have improved a bit, but in my opinion, they still can't touch CRTs.

Well I do have to say that trinitons kick some serious ass. I have one next to me right now that I use for tv and for video editing. It's probably 15 years old now and it still works great. I wouldn't want to use it for a computer monitor though :)

I would like to try an LCD monitor - but it would have to really look good. I use a flat screen 21 inch ViewSonic Graphics Series here at home, and the picture is simply superb, it would take a lot to get me to replace it.

i have a trinitron and a viewsoice (19 and 21 inch respectively) and i find the viewsonic is far better. i'm with adam, i prefer the crt at the moment for the resolution. i've been told that lcd also don't have as high a refresh rate so their not as good for games or movies. any merit to that criticism?

chip, are you running two video cards? which ones? i'm running both of my monitors off of one radeon 9600.

I'm just using one vid card... a quadro 900 xgl. I have to drop down to single monitor when I run SL or it has serious problems and I can't run both monitors at 1600x1200 without one of the monitors wigging out. It's not really a bit issue because I mainly needed dual monitors for working with 3ds max. It works fine with max on one monitor at 1280x1024 and the other at 1152x964. If I try and put the sencond monitor above that it wigs out, but it seems more like a refresh rate issue and not a framerate issue. I can't figure it out.

Sounds like you might want to try getting a second graphics card in. First one just isnt powerfull enough.

Not hardly! I am a long time user of ViewSonic LCD monitors.

Idk what I may be missing, But every LCD monitor I have seen so far, destroys the dynamics of the picture with so called "enhancements".
