Death and taxes

Does anyone know if the land barons and the big time movers and shakers in SL who rack up staggering amounts of L$s and then convert them to any RL currency are liable to pay income tax on these earnings? Would the IRS (in the USA), the Inland Revenue (in the UK) or any other national Governmental Taxation body get all hot and sweaty at the thought of virtual tax evasion? Do we have any budding SL Al Capones here? Or does anyone fancy themselves as an SL Elliot Ness?

OK, so there's nothing about death in this thread but hey - it got your attention!

This topic comes up from time to time. There was a pretty good thread on it last week. Check it out.

To answer your questions specifically though, yes we are tax-liable for any RL income we generate through SL, and no, no one knows who's reporting their income like they're supposed to except for the individuals themselves.
