But, seriously, how can the "Transactions Today" be going up on the SL home page when it's being upgraded? I'm mystified by this!

and there are only 10 people in SL right now! Sounds like this upgrade is a shopping spree!

Maybe it includes transactions made via third party websites?

That happened before after the last patch...is it that there is a backlog that suddenly goes through?

The image of the LIndens going on a wild spending spree while telling us they are updating really made me laugh..good one ![]() *laughs at the idea of Linden saying, you know, we need to shop, let's do it w/o lag. Then taking down the game and going to all the malls and shopping the crap outta them. I can hear them now. "K, we're done and good for a couple of months, put the grid on back up". *grin* Of course, I'm not saying they do this, just had a funny mental image of it happening *Laughs* Thanks, needed that. It was postulated the last time that we had a patch (and the transactions figure on the main page continued to rise) that these figures are fictional and not connected to any sort of real-time data in-world. In other words... it's a dummy statistic that probably doesn't mean anything.

Actually, raw statistical data doesn't lie... it all depends upon how you decide to interpret, catalog and report it.

After that person left then the name of the game stopped appearing. |

nimrod, I think you're thinking of the "Recent Transactions" page which is here. That one is, indeed, listing actual transactions in-world.
The number which seems to be fictional is here, next to the "Transactions Today (US$)" designation. And the only reason this seems to be made-up is because it continues to change, even when SL goes down for hours. Whether or not the changes we see in that number are based upon recently gathered data or are set to randomly increase is anybody's guess. The Lindens haven't commented on it, to the best of my knowledge. _____________________
