Hello everyone!

Stauf Arbuckle here. I was born unto the world via an email yesterday so I thought I may introduce myself along with give some first impressions from a total clueless newbie.

A little about me first.
IRL I'm 38 years old, married with 3 kids...all girls. heh.. I've been testing games on and offline since the early 80's. I got my first taste of "online gaming" on a BBS i ran at the computer I operated in the military. <shhh> I think I was the first to have a "floating BBS" aboard ship, hehe.

Anywho, on to SL:

As i entered this new mysterious world, I found many helpful people within an arms reach. Upon closer scrutiny I realized I was a female! Well, for the next 45 mins, I perused the seemingly endless customization I could do on my appearance.
Lag was a bit of an issue so I decided to see if updated drivers were available, and they were. I installed 41.52 Detonators, came in game again and was horrified that I had become dismembered :D For the next 90 mins I tried virtually every config and resolution possible to no avail. Ok, back to 41.09 and some exploring...

After asking where would be a good area to populate I proceeded to fly read: bang into West. Finding the West severely populated I strode East. I came upon a deserted beach just inside the Outlands and decided this was the place for me. I set up camp and proceeded to build my home. After some landscaping I erected a modest little cabin with a beautiful view of the sunrise. Still needs some work as i ran out of time last night but it's home.

Overall impression: Simply stunning. I can't begin to explain what a refreshing game this is from the norm. The individuality and manipulation of the game world is astounding. This world will make some noise. It will make heads turn.

Great to have you with us. If ya holler at me inworld next time you're online, I'll ya a free SLotto ticket :)

Also, I'm sorry you were dismembered. I'm sure we can round up a few people to tie ya down and perform some excellent amateur surgery. hehe. Don't be scared... ;)

You're right, SL is stunning -- every day I make a new discovery that amazes me and I find myself feeling like a child on Christmas morning.

There are some crazy good scripters and modelers and av makers in here, and you are in for some real treats in the days and weeks ahead.

If there's anything I can help ya with, just IM me. I'm addicted so I'm always inworld during open hours. And it seems in the forum or Your 2nd Life chat or somewhere nearby the rest of the time :)

:)

Careful, I've found the problem isn't being bored from having nothing to do, it's having so much to do and so little time. ;)
But welcome. :)
