I just found out about Blockland, a multiplayer client for building with legos. It's a little rough, but it's also a lot of fun. Some of the screenshots (in the media section) are incredible.

It looks neat and seems to be a nice example of what one developer can do alone. But isn't Lego International going to chew him up and spit him out as soon as they catch wind?

now THESE people need to know about SL!!!
is anyone a Blockland regular? one of us just jumping in wouldn't be taken very well.. at least, that's what i've learned from experience when i tried it on a couple forums last year. (man, i wish i got the Online Evangelist job with LL!) _____________________

Blockland! My friend showed me this a few months ago... Last time I played it, it was still very very very under development, and rather limited, and it was all very temporary... It seemed like most people played it just to mod the scripts to hell.
I just deleted it from my hard drive yesterday, come to think of it... |

I tried it once, didn't find it too entertaining.
It's built on the tribes engine. |

For anyone who may be interested in trying it, the real fun is in Return to Blockland, a mod which adds more bricks to the game, adds a save/load build function, and various other functions which are absolutely necessary to enjoying the game.
It certainly isn't as functional as SL, but it is an amusing parallel. |
