I think sl was ruined when the 1l dollar raitings were taken away to give way to the 25l dollar ratings people got out when it was only a buck met people sl was a thriving community and with events other than education supported people had more events and people got out more and met more people. now people stay in thier corner in sl and dont venture out. raitings are nill to none. sl should not be based on what someone thinks of you. at least they finally after a year got rid of the negative raitings. the bottom line is that the Lindens want more bucks in thier pockets i am talking those top dogs why give it to people to do events why make sl a thriving community where people get out and meet people. it is all about bucks in thier pocket

Hiya Julianna, I'd positively encourage you to not only explore SL more, but be patient and look towards the long, long term of what is ahead. From: Julianna Pennyfeather I think sl was ruined when the 1l dollar raitings were taken away to give way to the 25l dollar ratings people got out when it was only a buck met people sl was a thriving community and with events other than education supported people had more events and people got out more and met more people. now people stay in thier corner in sl and dont venture out. raitings are nill to none. sl should not be based on what someone thinks of you. I enjoyed the time of L$1 ratings. I was there for a good chunk of it in my early SL days. However, even with less ratings exchanges, I am encouraged to go out and socialize for the sheer pleasure of it—not based on numerical trades. Clubs still get packed, a lot of party places are full to the brim, and people have impromptu gatherings with friends all the time. Any shortterm disruptions are quickly nullified as gradual phases give way to a less myopic approach.

She is. I agree with Julianna to an extent though. There were some awesome events that just didn't fit in the instructor mold they have now that are no more. (beats drum)

Okaaayyy... well. If indeed no rates were being thrown around at Tribal Drums, then it has nothing to do with this topic or my comments, right? EDIT: ohhh, I see. Here's the confusion: you made a comment about events in general - I was responding to that. You took it that I was commenting about your drum events, but I was talking about the original topic - events that required the old rating system to be successful.

Understood. As usual I didn't make myself PERFECTLY clear. My point was with that fell swoop yes they killed $1 ratings (applaud) and they removed support for non-educational events. The tribal drums did not fit the perfect mold for the new educational event sponsorship and I'm not made of money. It was a build event held five days a week. Twice a month on the weekends Ace and I would hold actual drum building classes with the script/notecard semantics for seat postition, anim calibration, sound loop integration etc. I can't remember ever tossing around a rate, we were too busy otherwise.

Yeah, as far as the removal of non-educational events removal, that appeared to hurt events.

I prefer 25L ratings. It seems to me that that makes them more significant, since people don't just pass them out like popcorn anymore.
