OK..i think its starting to happen....the blurr of reality that happens when youve spent to much time in a world where you can do almost anything...how many of you have looked at a sign,a tree, your house, and wondered how many prims would it take to make that....what textures would look the best on the <RL>couch....your abscene thoughts repeatedly return you to your plot in Sl..knowing what should be moved here..or what script would work best if i wanted "that" to happen.......am i crazy?....< whole 'nother subject yeah yeah i know =p>

echoes from the canyon walls--raindrops on the river.

The sounds of rocks bouncing off rocks;
the shadows of trees traced on trees.

I sit, still.
The canyon river chants,
moving mountains.

The sermon spun on the still point:
dropping off eternity, picking up time;
letting go of self, awakened to Mind.

Heh. After spending the whole summer stuck inside playing SL all day and night, when I went to the Great Outside, meaning first day of college, I began seeing things in terms of "events", "projects" and "builds". I felt really insane for a while but then I got used to living in the real world again =)

The other life.

That's often the way I think about my real life now. I was out the other evening taking a walk, and marveling at the beautiful sunset. It made me feel incredibly frustrated though. I wished fervently that I could experience it with my SL body instead. Its beauty and easy grace is intoxicating. It has the ability to fly, so I could soar down and float among the geese on the river.

Above all, though, I wished I had ability to go zooming all over the place looking at things, leaving my head far behind. I imagined getting up close with a bee, caressing the manifold branches of a willow as I let it pass through me...

I could see myself climbing the roughness of the pavement as if it was a mountain range, then flying up among the clouds, dodging the jumbo jets, and stepping across the Rockies as if they were nothing but cracks in that sidewalk.

I wanted the lightness of my SL body, instead of my heavy plodding footsteps. I wanted to feel joy, and indestructibility, so I was free to jump down in the river and leap from rock to rock, without suffering from embarrassment or the cold and wet. Instead I am constantly being interrupted by my empty stomach and my full bladder, and my trick knee. I imagined myself dancing down the path, but would be too ashamed, being far too old and out-sized.

I smiled at passersby, wondering what their names were. But instead of smiling back and calling me by name, they just eyed me suspiciously as they returned my "hello".

*sigh.

Yesterday afternoon, after closing down SL and going out into the Real World, I was driving south on the I-5 freeway, looked up in the sky and saw an airplane ascending after departing from Portland International Airport. My brain, still in SL mode, urged me to reach up with my hand (or mouse button) and click the plane so I could see who was flying in front of me as I would do in SL. It was truly an odd sensation when I realized what I was about to do.

You know there's going to be a whole new psychosis now... :D

Of course, all this chatter about perceiving RL as SL has got to be swelling the heads of the Big Boys at Linden Labs. And for once in the corporate world, rightfully so! :)

MY GOD I wish I could alt-zoom IRL. If I had 3 wishes, they would be:

1) Flying
2) Psychokenisis
3) Alt-zoom!

Mine would be the avatar customization. Or even just the body fat slider.

Mine would be clairavoyance. I would love to be a psychic, and be able to See (with a capital S). And PLEASE don't confuse this with the occult. Virtually 100% of those 'psychics' you see nowadays that do readings toatally misuse the word psychic. Tarot cards, astrology charts, tea leaves, palm reading, phrenology, numerology, and goat entrails have absolutely NO CONNECTION to the word psychic. None, nada, zip, zero. A true psychic, if one exists, wouldn't need artificial props, and wouldn't need to 'talk to the spirits' to See. This has always been a pet peeve of mine.

Of course, I realize this isn't, an SL ability...so my post is completely off topic. I am half asleep as usual, and my mind wanders when I am awake...uhm, what was I saying?

As far as sl the ability to build huge buildings out of thin air would be cool. I certainly could underbid anyone in the home building Industry. Money would no longer be a concern.

Well if I had to pick any single power it would have to be the power of persuasion. I'm not talking about Jedi hand waving tricks I'm talking about absolute infallible 100% effective persuasion, as in, I tell you to do something in 3 words and you not only do it but enjoy it.
I could persuade my college to give me a diploma, heck, a PhD, then I could persuade a bank to transfer a billion dollars into my account, I could persuade any random chick on the street that she was madly in love with me, take her to the fanciest hotel and... well I guess if I had the power to persuade I wouldnt need the money since I could talk people into giving me anything for free.
I could get NASA to take me up and see the ISS. I could persuade the iraqis that america is their friend.
I could persuade every country in the world that they would be better off as a portuguese province and then talk everyone into voting me president.

I was once sitting in a diner and thought to myself, "They really need to retexture these walls..."

Q. What was the White House Chief of Staff's reaction to the Lewinsky story?
A. Now I know why they kept calling Monica the "head" intern!

I sometimes hear my RL name, and think, "That's not my name, Dionysus is!" This is amplified by the fact that I go by a completely different name at work, just to clear confusion.

I get SL invading RL sometimes too - although for me this isnt totaly new... when I first got into 3D graphics back in the early eighties, I would often find myself staring at a building or a tree while my minds-eye translated it into a wireframe mesh...

True story:

1994. Harrogate, UK. A bar called "the honest lawyer". About an hour before closing time...
Me. Quite drunk, sitting next to a pretty girl at a table. Just preceeding the well-aimed slap to my face, I leaned over and said "Wow... you have a lovely texture!"

Ouch.

I may have said something about playing with her pixels too, but opinion is divided on that one.

(as relayed to me countless times by my friends who were also at the table that night. They say they never have to make up drunken stories about me as I always deliver the entertainment... so I trust them :) )
