SL Hacked - Info Wanted

I thought I'd spawn a new thread for this, as the other thread is currently being used to put the W-Hat group through a rock tumbler.

I've had several folks email me information about the virtual- and real-world identity of the culprit. As was stated in the other thread, it is rumored (albeit with growing confidence), that the avatar (edited) had something to do with the compromise.

If you have real-world information about the people who did this:

1. Send the information to a Linden.
   
2. If you don't want to contact a Linden in order to maintain your privacy, send the information to me and I will send it to them for you.

If you have virtual-world information about the people who did this:

1. Send the information to a Linden.
   
2. Post it here.
   
3. If you don't want to reveal your identity, send it to me by PM and I'll post it for you.

I'll try and walk the line between rumor mongering and informing concerned citizens.

Ulrika Zugzwang, Private Investigator. You're going to need to build a nice, wood-paneled office with a frosted glass door, a heavy but cheap wooden desk, a metal wastebasket and a 30's-era electric fan with wire blade guard.

You'll also need a trenchcoat.

Joviality aside, you've already gotten much further than my initial feelers did. I wasn't too interested in the identities of the persons involved, though. Rather, I wanted a breakdown of the timeline that lead to the different persons becoming involved and exposing the exploit.

From what I've pieced together, there's:

Alpha, who came up with the exploit and thought it was pretty neat but didn't want to screw around with anyone.

Then there's Beta, who was given the exploit by Alpha and also thought it was neat but didn't want to cause trouble.

Beta gives the exploit to Gamma and Delta, in an effort to raise his standing with the same. Not realizing the potential for abuse this raises, nor realizing the depths of the depravity that Gamma and Delta share.

Gamma and Delta get greedy and use the exploit for bad activities which catch the eye of Linden Lab. They collect a bunch of high profile product scripts and release them on the internet. Deciding to crash and burn in a blaze of idiotic glory, they spam #secondlife on efnet with a link to the exploited client, knowing there is no turning back after this.

Alpha and Beta now feel exceedingly guilty for their breach.


Can anyone confirm this sequence of events? Again, I haven't much idea who the parties involved actually are, but I heard enough talk from different people to believe this might be close to the truth.

She also might need an actual Linden title to properly investigate this.
