Noticed that my profile said I had something like a +1 rating or whatever awhile back...I didn't really care too much so I never researched it. So now that I've gotten around to it, I'm curious--were ratings reset (would have been awhile ago) or did some kind of ratings bug get me?

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS! |

Neg rates are still the best way to show your disapproval of someone's actions or behavior, hands down. They don't provoke any kind of response either, which shows the maturity level of this population as well as their ability to accept constructive criticism. _____________________

I have to add that LL has shown with this crazy new measure that they simply dont care about their retention rate and customer loyalty. In fact, if you stay in SL for over 6 months, you are punished for it!

Eggy..  lol Well I guess you could put it that way...and in my case I'm sure it's clear that inactivity or lack of socializing gets punished too!!! Unfortunately the only one I can blame for that one is myself. (Unless someone else has any other ideas on who to blame, I am always open to suggestions!) Odd that neg rates don't expire, though! The longer you play the worse your ratings will probably look, and there's no way that you can "clean up" your behavior if you start off as a lamer and wise up after awhile. Not that I'm planning on getting negs!  _____________________

Ratings decay is supposed to be progressive but I still have rates I'm sure are OLDER than 6 months old that are still with me. Weird eh?!

At one of the last town halls we were told that the rating system was going to be removed and replaced with something better, but it was a low priority compared to things like, say, fixing bugs. No hints at what would replace it though. Sigh.

I think I re-rated three people after the ratings wipe, but then I don't get out and about as much among a lot of the people I have known in SL over the past couple of years. If anybody who knows me wants a re-rate, let me know. I'm so tentative now about giving ratings, I usually only rate when rated. I don't want people to feel that they have to rate me back since it's now more expensive, especially newer folk.
The Lindens have been saying for a while that ratings would be removed completely and some different system would take its place, but they haven't given us any indication of the time frame for this change. Maybe they still don't know exactly what they want to do. I know there has been an active thread seeking suggestions on the rating system on the Features forum for months. _____________________

Yeah, remember what you said about Darko? LOL... He's at -7 in each category which is a pretty good indication that negs do decay. For anyone who doesn't know, he threw a party last year and asked EVERYONE to neg him. He was at like -100 or something crazy. _____________________

just don't rate anybody for anything. in 6 months all the ratings will go away and we can ignore it and get on with our lives. i don't even bother looking at peoples ratings any more. you get a good idea if they're cool or not in the first 5 minutes of talking. let hanging around them or flying off screaming be your rating system.

Any jackoff whose security script teleports or ejects me without warning, I give that schmuck -1 for behavior and -1 for building. Those damn things are supposed to give you at least 10 seconds warning, so says Lee Linden. I have had so many aircraft ruined and had to relog so many times because of these damn things.
If they ditch the rating system, well, I hope they start getting serious about that 10-second rule before then. _____________________

I don't know Eggy, one advantage of having ratings expire is that you don't have active old timers with +1000 ratings that new players will never catch up to anymore. It's sort of newb friendly! Evens the playing field, that sort of thing. Only the most ACTIVE players have high ratings (well, in theory anyway...)

I rarely rate people in person, because when I do, they feel the need to rate me back, and I hate forcing that on someone. Instead, I rate them through their buildings, when they're offline.
