Continuing from the BBC News one, this is an article from New Scientist that highlights the good that's been done in our community to help the victims of Katrina. :)

I feel really honored to have been able to represent Second Life in some small way and to tell the world of everyone's great efforts to raise money.

Now I know what it feels like when people complain their quotes were taken out of context or a bit off. :) I was very concious NOT to refer to Second Life as a game and am almost positive I said “People are a little bit more liberal with IN WORLD money sitting in their account. It’s easier to give away IN WORLD money, it’s not tangible.” :) Oh well.

As for this quote in reguards to FlipperPA, “the most trustworthy resident of Second Life” I said ONE OF the most. :)

And as for the mistakes in land prices and tier costs, I went over that with her a few times but she seemed confused about the difference.

See if you would have spoken to her FLIPPER then maybe you could have explained it more clearly. :)

Yay! Snapzilla was mentioned on the image credits for the article :) Very cool article - it makes me proud to see the Second Life community's genorisity and to see recognition for being at the SL forefront of this kind of charity in a virtual world. It's also nice to see some press about giving money, as opposed to making money in SL.

Heh, I love this:
"Money raised for Hurricane Katrina in Linden dollars is passed to a player called FlipperPA Peregrine, deemed “the most trustworthy resident of Second Life” after he organised a virtual 5 kilometre run to raise money for the American Cancer Society in August 2005."

Heh, I did try to call her, but she ended up not calling me as she said she had enough material!

For the record, I didn't organize the SL: Relay For Life... I merely helped! The lion's share was done by RC Mars and Jade Lily. :-)

Even with the size of my ego, I wouldn't say I'm the most trustworthy person in SL! That would CLEARLY be Grimmy Moonflower! ;-)

Still, the articles heart is in the right place, and its cool to see Rick getting some of the recognize he deserves for all of his cool charity work.

Regards,

-Flip

and i agree, it's great to see people get recognition for their work.. and in this case, selfless charitable work at that. congrats, ReallyRick!
