Cyrus and I went to see The Constant Gardner this weekend (which was VERY good) and they played the trailer for Brokeback Mountain.

I cannot wait to see this movie! After the trailer was previewed, the audience was dead silent - no laughing, no hissing - just silence.

Check out the trailer.

Anyone else going to see it?

it's looks pretty formulated. the trailer also gave away the whole story and there doesn't seem to be much of one.

bold move for hollywood though. i guess.

I have a cousin who is an honest-to-god beer-drinkin', cattle-ropin', rodeo-ridin' cowboy out in Arizona and he is going to blow all 8 gaskets when he hears about this.

Hmmmm, probably not. I don't get into gooey romantic flicks and I agree with Jauani, they gave away the whole movie in the preview.

Maybe a little off topic, but I was just in Amazon.com and I saw this and thought maybe some of you film buffs may be interested...

... in watching and judging short films at the Amazon Theater/Tribeca Film Festival Short Film Competition.

Just go to www.amazon.com/screeningroom to start watching and rating the
films.

Plus, every time you view and rate a film in the first round of competition
(through September 23), you will be entered in a sweepstakes to win a
grand prize of a $1,000 gift certificate and a trip to New York City.

Holy Crap!
I would never have expected that movie in a million years. :D

My question is what the heck is the market for something like that?
Cowboy movies appeal rather strongly to the homophobic crowd in my area. And two men kissing is literally the "kiss of death" for a mainstream movie in the burbs.

Hell yeah! Haha, I saw the same trailer while watching the same feature film at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. My partner slapped me because, when I realized that Brokeback was a movie about gay cowboys, I said outloud, "Right On!" Haha, I outed us, but it was dark and it was, after all, the gay part of town. :D

I'll watch Jake Gyllenhaal read from the dictionary for two hours.

Probably not - they've had gay rodeos for years. There's even an International Gay Rodeo Association. They're all cowboys just like your cousin, well *almost* like your cousin. ;)

I love the gay rodeo.

It's always fun to see the PETA crowd protesting the homosexuals. I'm surprised more conservatives don't come to watch that part of the festivities.
