I understand that the SL world job market is whatever a person wants to do or produce, however from a thread/s i've read that a large portion of the player base are low income earners with little to spare unless they are on a premium account.

This lead me to decide to make a thread asking all people what sort of jobs have they come across in the SL world so i would have a idea of what job types are offered.

/invalid_link.html

Thats if someone is looking...if they are it would be a good idea to say in the post what they are good at in the post:)

It's good to check out the employment forum. It has jobs offered on there.

But it all depends on what you want to do. I'll kind of detail some of the jobs I've seen/run into.

Category: Designers
These people design clothing, shoes, jewelry, hair etc. AFter creating enough they either rent space or buy land and get a store. I have two friends who are really good designers, one who's pretty established now, one who is in her first month. They say this is like RL work 70 percent of the time, but that they love it. This would involve playing with prims and photoshop.

Category:

Builders
These people design furniture, buildings, pictures, artwork, plants etc. Also, cars, planes etc. About anything you can think of to build, try it out.

Category:
Scripters
Uh, don't know much about this one, but your items that need scripts, they make them. *grin*

Category:
Land
Buying and selling land, this initially takes some capital to invest to get the land to then sell it.

Category:
Clubs
This area is where I do know the most information. The other ones I sort of just described in the hopes that the people that do them would respond to you as well. Clubs have the basic jobs no matter the club.

a) dancers: These are people that are employed to dance and hang out at a club and help draw people in. To be a good dancer, it's a good idea to keep talking to people and try to keep your afkness to a minimium. Dancers work for anything from just tips to well whatever a club pays. Highest that I know off the top of my head is 50 to 75 a hour. Some clubs let you keep 100 percent of your tips, some don't. Some put you on a schedule, some don't.

b) Hosts/hostesses: These people run the events. Those contests you've seen? i.e. best nude avie, best in black and red etc. etc. The people that keep these things going, by talking a lot, taking votes, welcoming people to the club and adding them to vip groups if they want to...are the hosts. Don't really know host pay off the top of my head.

c) DJs. These people use SAM and uh other stuff to download and play music over a stream for a club or event. These can make up to *thinks* I think I've heard 300 a hour top, but I could be wrong, some could make more. This involves talking over a mic and also taking requests and playing.

d) Escorts. Escorts do anything from a private lap dance, to full out blown cyber sex with avatars and sex balls etc. Most clubs let escorts keep their money but will take a percentage off the top. Some pay by the hour as well, some don't.

e) Managers of clubs. these people run the above groups, and keep the club running etc.

Um, I'm sure there's more to clubs, but eh, my brain is tapped.

Hope this helps. :)

Check out the job classifieds, they'll also give you an idea.
