How do you get your creations sold by a vendor?

Quick question:

I am a RL artist, and want to sell virtual versions of my paintings in-game. After I create the object, how can I get it listed with a vendor, and how much do they normally charge?

Thanks! :)

Kirby there are several different ways you can sell your art.

You can create a prim frame and put the art on a prim and just put that for sale.
A copy would go into the buyers inventory. Probably the easiest.

Vendor spaces have a different range of prices and prim limits. Best to check out
the different areas that you would like to rent space. If they have a Rent vendor there, it usually gives the name of the person you can contact.

Also, look at this thread:

/invalid_link.html

That would be a good place to get your art shown and get some buyers as well.
Good luck :)

Hi Kirby,

There are several ways to sell your wares in SL.

If you own land, you can build a shop for yourself, hire a builder, or buy a prefab building to set up and sell out of as your shop.

There are several places that rent out shop space to people on a week-by-week basis. Cost for this will vary depending on who you rent from. They averaged between $50L - $200L a week or so the last time I looked at them, but that was a while ago so I'm not sure what the real rent would be.

Either of these methods should allow you to sell your objects if you set them to Sell Copy and enter your chosen price in the General field of your Edit menu on the item. (Make sure you choose your Permissions on the items carefully to avoid abuse and resell of your original works.)

You can also set up an account with a web-to-SL based service like SLBoutique.com, SLExchange.com, and a couple others I can't recall at the moment. These usually charge a small commission per sale and are pretty easy to set up and get started with, with no up-front fees.

Another idea... hook up with the owner of an event venue, and see about collaborating to put on an 'Art Show' displaying your work, for sale of course.

I think putting on some sort of 'Art Fair' would be kinda neat :)

There are also some folks who run art galleries. One of my dearest friends is currently building his first. I think it's a wonderful idea.

Kirby, give me an IM ingame and I'll hook you up with a couple of people you'll enjoy talking to about this.

Try contacting Tayzia Abattoir, curator of the Crescent Moon Museum.

Wow, thanks everyone! Ask and you shall receive, huh?

I'll say one thing about the SL community, I don't think I've ever met a more readily helpful group of people anywhere! :)

There is going to be an art show next weekend. I don't have the information with me, but it might already have events listed. I think it was for the 27th. IM Laukosargas Svarog about it. :)

Also check River Walk, under find places. They have an annual art show, and ongoing displays of art.
