Looking for general opinions here. A buddy and I are kicking around an idea which would require a fairly large property to host a progressive contest of sorts. Without going into a lot of gory detail, an avie who had purchased a time slot to compete might want a friend or two close by to hang out and help, but would probably not want potential fellow contestants to be able to observe his/her progress. (Only one avie would be able to compete at a time, so there'd need to be a waiting area elsewhere on the property.)
It looks to us like the only real way to handle this is to place the game console close to the center of a large spread, and then give the current contestant "guest" control over a push-based security system for the length of the purchased round. We'd want to be able to raise a privacy field far enough away from the console area to discourage panning cameras, as well as eavesdroppers' actual presence near the console. The privacy zone would be a central tract surrounded by a safe perimeter.
We're wondering how the Lindens and the general public would respond if, when the console was rented and security engaged, we rezzed a warning fence around the protected area, clearly marked with hazard signs and appropriate warnings. Given the Lindens' apparent position of blanket condemnation of all push-based property security, we may try to pursue some agreement with them for this specific project, depending on what fellow players have to offer in the way of counsel. But we don't even want to go that far if the idea will get us ridden out of the sim on a rail.
We're still working though what can be done about flyovers, if anything, but that's not at the top of our list of current challenges
If this is worth doing, our current thought is to rez parts of the fence exactly as high as the restricted airspace, so that flyovers can duly report us if we push them while travelling above fence level....but we're not yet confident enough of the sensor system's reliability to know if that's feasible, much less acceptable.Any thoughts, gut reactions, and suggestions welcome, and thanks for reading!
PS Oh...if the fence idea is doable, it'd be a double fence...the outer fence would have advance warning signs, to give avies and pilots time to veer around or climb.
