has anyone thought of going to peoples homes to sell thier products? kinda like, "ding dong, SL lady"? i hate going out shopping, but i love to shop. slexchange is great, but having someone come to the house and actually show the products would be a great way of selling stuff. and no complaints, since we can see exactly what we are getting.
PLEASE, somone, become a traveling salesperson!!!!

the great thing about the electrolux 4000 is that it'll clean blinds, upholstry, wood floors, and witht he attachment, makes delicious popcorn!
*spinkles some dirt on the floor to pick up with the vacuum*
Seriously, though, it would take a lot of trust to do this. Most designers aren't going to have the time to come up with new stuff and make house calls, and hiring individual people who have coppy/transfer permissions on your stuff would either take trust or require some pyramid-scheme-type buy in.
hrmm....maybe if you sold them quatity at reduced price on nocopy/trans.....maybe, but the person who is looking for this kind of job isnt likely to have the capital to make it worth their time.

I can promise that any designer who made house calls to Reddish would definitely find it was well worth their time! This is a great idea. Especially since we don't have "try before buy". The designer could model the looks. Smart designers should offer this service to their most frequent buyers. Real-world designers do offer this type of service to their wealthier and trend-setting customers. coco

From: Cocoanut Koala Smart designers should offer this service to their most frequent buyers. Oh definitly, especially if it's a high volume customer. It has a better place as a value-added customer service for high-end customers, and less place as a business model like reddish seemed to suggest.

Ack! Reddish! This is a fantastic idea! It would be really cool, and a great change of pace, to get solicitors every now and then (no, really!)
Clothing would be easy to sell, I think, and attachments, but a lot of people have their property on 'no rez' (which is annoying and ignorant) so selling objects and vehicles would probably be a lot harder.... Though, it would be kind of cool to have someone knock on my door, hand me a prim catalog, and explain to me the benefits of buying certain vehicles instead of another brand's, etc....
Of course, I'm not in any way saying that throwing notecards at people from across the grid is a good thing, what I'm talking about is the idea of individual attention... I think this would make the game a lot more... Immersive. Or something!

idea...

perhaps... if the sales were handled on commission basis, say I go and buy a bunch of a designer's outfits and the designer gives me a slight discount, the when I sell to the customer (provided the outfits are transferrable), I can recoup all I paid or maybe a little more (say, perhaps the actual retail sales price)... that could work. But there are many designers who have no trans items.
It's an interesting prospect... could work along the lines of a personal shopper that you could hire to go out and look for the clothing for you - or even furniture maybe - and then have them report back on what they've found and make your selections from there.
Then again, I'll clean up my sim and make it REAL pretty if a designer would come out and show me all her stuff so I can decide if I want it. I'd invite friends... just like those naughty nightie parties...
Another option would be to just get a bunch of girlfriends together and show off your most recent purchases - hair, clothes, shoes... maybe even do trades of stuff you don't wear anymore for stuff someone else doesn't wear anymore.
I think too much about shopping anyway... hahaha

Unsolicited, this would earn the would-be salesperson a quick trip home and a banning from all land I own in whole or in group.
It has always been one of my biggest frustrations in real life that so many laws exist to protect those who go out of their way to bug me and mine, and so few exist to give me any sort of power to deal with them. Second life, thankfully, affords me somewhat more in the way of freedom.

I was thinking of making my store "open" I Have a system set up, where i can give "Catalogs" to "Salespersons" and they go around sl or they can drop the catalogs, which will turn into a vendor and they can sell the items. They dont make the item, but they wil get 20% out of every item purchased, since they are selling it (You can put how many percents you wish). So if the person does not put any efforts into selling the item, they dont make any money. If they go everywhere and put some efforts, they get money from every item. I have been doing alot of thinking into this, and i have about 20 people who are intersted in working. This will be a great opportunity for new players, instead of "Dancing in clubs, or been escorts" (Not that there is something wrong) But this will open new doors to people, and they can work on their time, and if they dont put effort they wont take anything, and if they do.. they get it Im still thinking of putting this, its all ready just need sales persons. .. LOL

And the only concern i had, is them been banned, but i added on the policy resume, for them to not spam the product, cuz they can get banned from a place.

Hmmm. I've been thinking about starting a pyramid scheme, but I don't feel like paying people back, which I suppose is the entire point.

I go for this idea of designers bring their wares to private showings for good clients!!! And I will say, y'all should start with Reddish. She has a fine appreciation for good content. coco
