So here is my idea.

Create a foundation through player contributions to support the buying of the best Art projects in game so they can be preserved for the future in a great musem.

I know that some folks delete their art work for cashflow purposes.
A fund could be created to purchase the best of these works.
Not only would it be saving art it would be providing income for struggling artist types so they don't have to sell thier blood.

It would be a mighty expensive project and the museum itself will probably be pretty big.
But I think player contributions could mostly cover this, with perhaps a wee bit of help from the linden lab folks.

For starters I would be willing to start something like this with my own $$$.

I think it would be a great way to preserve the great projects and art created in this game.

What do you folks think of this idea! any merit to it?

I know if you get enough votes you can have your stuff preserved, but art is not always about whats popular.

Input appreciated

I actually already have an art museum *mostly* built in Immaculate. It isn't as large as I'd like, but I'm not entirely sure how popular the idea will be. I have more land I could extend it to... It mostly depends on the response I get. (It's certainly not large enough to hold your Athena statue, heh) It's just a new idea that I'd been allowing to rummage around in my head, and I just moved it, because no one really knew about it. I'd like to see some of your work IW, I'm not sure if I have your calling card, but just IM me via "Form Over Function" group message.

well popular or not its a great idea.
We spoke about this last night before i got bopped

You museum could easily be expanded to include lots of different projects that artists wish to discard to save $$$.
A little fund could easily pay the taxes etc and the votes would probably be substantial.
