I made this little animation which is a trip into the theoretical third dimension of the Second Life in-world map. It's just a bit of silliness really

Now THAT is how the Second Life map and teleporting SHOULD work!
Very very nice! _____________________

Now THAT is how the Second Life map and teleporting SHOULD work! LOL, I didn't think of that. SL teleporting could totally be like the transporter in Galaxy Quest Thanks for the nice words, everyone. _____________________

I love heightmaps. Fun stuff.
And yes, TPs should so have that sort of animation. ![]() _____________________

Well, without that whole turning inside out and then exploding part, right? ![]() Oh, I forgot about that one (or blocked the memory). I was thinking of the Thermian system where you're encased in gelatin and shot through space screaming the whole way ![]() _____________________

Very cool. I had seen your old site on geocities a while ago, and I see you've been busy since then!

Hear hear! Keep up the great work, Cadroe! Very cool stuff. This kind of thing could go a long way to help folks see past their parcel borders. =)

Very awsome! I'd love to see some sort of explorable map like that (not being sarcastic "Thats what SL is", I actualy mean it
). What I like best about this, is that you put it on a world globe of some sort (or atleast it looks like that), I dunno why, but I like that better than the currently "The Grid Is Flat" model we have now._____________________

Hamlet was nice enough to mention my animation in New World Notes, but I realized he thought it was a demo of the real-time 3D grid viewer app I've been working on. Actually it was rendered in 3DSMax. Sorry for any confusion. In the interest of full disclosure I made a quick demo of the actual 3D viewer as it stands now really just past the proof of concept stage.
Click here to see the demo. The url: http://www.spinmass.com/2life/video/3DViewDemo1e.mov _____________________
