I learned the hard way on my first patch that the installer is less than graceful. It's got to be worth noting, for anyone that doesn't realise this already, that the installer will forcefully delete ALL directories and contents under your SL directory without prompting, whether it was originally created by SL or not.

I found this out because, as is my custom to keep related stuff together, I stored all my textures, scripts, images for upload etc etc in a 'my stuff' directory under the SL directory. And now I've lost the lot.

It would be nice if the installer would just delete the directories it needs to.

That's really awful, Kris. You're right, the installer shouldn't blindly delete all folders.

On the other hand, these things can happen if you keep your own files in the Programs folder. Better to keep them in My Documents or another documents folder.

That's really good to know Kris, and sorry to hear about your files. I've always kept a projects folder on the root of my drive where I put my SL stuff and other art projects, so I've never had that happen.
