Why is it that registration has been disabled, anyway?

Don't you have to be an SL member/trial member to see all of the forums and post in them anyway? When I came to the forum last week, all I did was sign in with my SL name and password and viola! I was in.
There didn't seem to be any registration process other than, "Welcome to the forums, Justice Monde!" or something similar.

I think I know what David's referring to. Every once in awhile, until you figure out how to get to the control panel and enable cookies, you'll read a long page or write a long response, and when you click on the next link or submit button, you'll be taken to a login page. Once you type in your name/password, sometimes you get an error message that the administrator has disabled registrations in the forums.
I'm sure it's technically disabled because registration is, indeed, tied into the master database, but the error message is still annoying as all getout.
Especially when you've typed up a multi-paragraph reponse to a post, only to have it get lost in the ether because you forgot to copy it to the clipboard before clicking on "Submit". Happened to me several times before I finally figured out how to get to the user CP and enable cookies.
BTW, doesn't anyone know why the "Remember Me" checkbox doesn't work on the main site login?

From: someone Originally posted by Dragon Crossing i was told by a linden that the forums time out at 20 min `then log ya out Who are you replying to? If it's me, I'm not asking about the forums, I'm asking about the main site. If it's the original poster, you can actually circumvent the time out by going to the user control panel and turning cookies on. That way, when your session expires, you just get automatically logged back in. The difficulty is in finding the User Control Panel.
