Hello,

I have met some of you all ready out her and having a great time for the time that I get to be arround. Phaylen and her sweet neighbor have been helpin me out alot. In fact already working on my very own house! Only thing that I am wanting to learn is some more trick about building. I have seen some of the masterpieces around and am jealous of it. <chuckles> Was just wondering if anyone has any building tips, or even basic teaching me to put a light on a lamp for example. Just if ya see me trying to build on my house, and I look a little bluer then usual. Don't be shy to ask if I need any help or for some suggestions. I don't bite hard. <grins> :D

Thanks

I'd be glad to help! I'm usually found hovering over my house at Hawthorne 78, 101. I can teach some of the basics if you want :)

Some building tips that everybody should know:

Easy way to copy an object: while holding SHIFT down click and drag on the selection arrows (red, green, blue) and you'll leave a copy of the object behind.

Camera controls: try holding down the ALT key to go into camera mode. You can then click on an object and swing your view about its center. Add the CTRL and SHIFT keys to the ALT to get different camera motion. These are useful for orienting your view of an object so you can place it just right.

Making small objects: some people like to make the object larger than it is supposed to be, linking it all together, then scaling the whole thing to a smaller size. Just keep in mind that there is a limit to how small an object can be, so the smallest piece of the collection will determine how small the collection can be.

Hmmms i've tried doing that before...the linking together of objects (even if its just two slabs of wood), but when i go to resize, it only ever resizes just one of them..

I wonder if i'm doing it wrong..

comments/suggestions? :)

Come by my house in Natoma any time, it's the brownstone on the hill behind and to the left of Avatar Central. I'm usually close by or in my second-floor studio building something. I have some land marked for build so people feeling a little lost or confused can hang out, experiment and chat. It's not Rygar's Rave Palace but it has a flat place you can work.

Like many others, I also give a regularly scheduled class (8 p.m. PST Mondays), which focuses on house bits (windows, etc.). If you have some scripting ability or just would like to see samples I can provide you with a couple of simple motion ones to get started.

Cya in game :)
