I note the lastest string of surnames contains, Gretzky, Lemieux and Horton. Wayne G. and Mario L. are already taken.
Now please add Bentley and Mosienko, and I'll re-unite the famous "Pony Line"!

It was fun actually (I think something like that was done in Blue, don't remember).
SL Football was also tried. But didn't have much luck getting off the ground. _____________________

It was fun actually (I think something like that was done in Blue, don't remember). Yup, but then the players who were making millions of dollars a year, demanded more money from the billionaire team owners. Big egos were involved, and by the time cooler heads prevailed everyone was watching Tiger Woods and Feddy Adu and forgot all about them. Hmm I played SL Hockey the first day I logged in. I passed it again recently, but I can't remember where it was. Maybe it was in Spittonie? _____________________

It is funny when it comes down to it.
Take a look at what happens to people when alls they think about is money. The NHL is a perfect example. Although I really could care less about the NHL, it just saddens me that money is all of whats involved, the fans don't matter (the ones who are actually paying them), just their self observed egos. _____________________

We had an SL Hockey group a LONG time ago that never got off the ground. We had a few events during the playoffs, now a year and change ago, when my beloved Flyers almost pulled off a miraculous Stanley Cup appearance, coming up one game shy with no defensemen left (Kapanen was playing defense, lol), and Keith Primeau putting on one of the most heroic performances I'd ever seen.
I'd love to have a hockey group in SL again, now that the game is finally going to be back on the ice. ![]() Regards, -Flip |

If you played, where was the rink and how was the experience? I would be all for helping to script up a good hockey game in SL if nothing else exists. Since the Rangers decided to go into another 50 year slump, video game hockey is all I have. _____________________

I passed it again recently, but I can't remember where it was. Maybe it was in Spittonie? Actually, you've got the labor sitch kind of backwards. It was the owners demands for a hard salary cap and direct linkage of revenues to salaries that caused the lockout... and the players salaries will be MUCH, MUCH lower. The players would have been perfectly happy with the status quo and their former salary range. Your thoughts on egos and sillyness are absolutely correct, however. They're fighting over a distant fourth most popular sport in America. As much as I love hockey, its a niche sport that gets lower ratings than the World Series of Poker (then again, poker's pretty popular these days). Its like arguing over who gets to bigger slice of a non-existent pie. (PIE?!) There's a sim called Brindamoor - I think its a typo - should be Brind'Amour! Greatest last name in hockey. Just saw your other questions, Satchmo
![]() There was a rink in Spittoonie, but this group was pre-Spittonie. I'm trying to remember where the hell we played. It was up in the sky somewhere. We played once that I can remember... and hung out talking smack about our favorite teams the rest of the time. I might be up for trying to help script hockey again. The former games were a bit too difficult to play for my liking. I think with good anims and "run" on, we could do better. We'll see... I'm taking a scripting break for a bit right now. ![]() Good thing there were no Tampa Bay Lightning fans around. ![]() -Flip _____________________

The Draft
07-17-2005 13:31
So, folks, time to start a draft for the SLHL? Gordie, you still eligible?
The 2005-06 NHL should look very interesting what with caps, buyouts, and european teams offering (almost) competitive money and a short season. Fipper, you build it I will come! Looking for my skates, pads and cup as I type. Bob P.S. my sainted mother is really suffering - hasn't been able to yell "kill da bum" to the tv since last playoff fight. _____________________

I've built a rink. It's sexeh. I'm far too busy with projects (dancing, having lunch) to script it.
If anyone wants to do it up send me an IM. The rink needs ice textures. I'll do those up if someone takes it on. It's also great for rock concerts ![]() |
