I was off line for a few days on vacation in New Mexico, I came back and found out there had been a recall election and Prok was out of ravenglass rentals. This is so not cool with me. Prok is one of the reasons why I contribute tier to ravenglass rentals (my view being the the other). I have never gotten anything other than fair treatment from prok, and I assume he does a lot to take care of the ravenglass details so I don't have to worry about it. In anycase, when you decide to grief a group because you don't like one individul, remember that the group has other members, and those memebers are affected by your decisions too. Ihad no chance to vote in the recall, and really i don't like worrying about the situation. If you don't like prok, flame him on the boards like everyone else, but please stay out of group business.

Jake, I merely temporarily left the group in order to derail the malicious officer-recall "vote", then was invited back in by another officer. I remain in charge.
It was not any kind of authentic vote, it was a malicious individual who was not a paying tenant who joined because the group is on "open enrolllment" after making threats to "fix me" and instantly triggered the "officer recall" function. Then he left. That paralyzes the group and prevents people from moving in roomies, joining the group as new tenants to set their prims, etc. because all membership is frozen during recall votes. Fortunately, we were able to work around it eventually but it was a huge nuisance inconveniencing many people and sowing panic.
There is no way I am going to allow malicious individuals to do that to me, as you can see, they were unable to do that to me, and I have taken many precautions to make sure that no one is able to undermine our group. All the land under the rentals is secured and it is not possible to vote me out of the group; I'm the one paying much of the tier on it.
It might be interesting to you as a newbie and as a person who sold their first land and donated tier to comment more on that process. I don't drag my tenants into the forums to testify, but since you appeared, perhaps you could comment.
This saga actually began with a malicious individual with personal baggage making an accusation against me that I scam newbies by getting them to sell their their land to me under pressure and then getting their tier in our group. It was based not only on malice but on basic misunderstandings about how rental groups function. I do not scam newbies, but I inform them properly of their options. I do not pressure, I ask, and explain the system. I do things like buy doggy first land that would never sell quickly on its own and other helpful tasks -- as you know. The tier donors in our group are few in number precisely because of the barrage of hatred and propaganda stormed at this idea -- precisely because renting to make communities is a great idea, encouraged by the Lindens (Ben Linden has spoken about it favorably and Philip Linden himself encouraged rentals in his last town hall meeting) -- and I guess it has made some people jealous and fearful that it poses some kind of "threat" or something. It is not. It is legitimate activity, and it should be encouraged, not slammed.
Tier is always in a person's control, and they put it in or take it out at any time. And far from scamming newbies, I help them get access to better land. And far from "pressuring them" I in fact make myself vulnerable to their attacks or their tier-pulling without notice, which has happened several times with oldbies even.
IT's a long saga, the subject of many long and contentious and now closed threads, but what it boils down to this: when my reputation is slandered, I don't take it sitting down. And the result is that I was subjected to a malicious officer-recall attack. This has garnered little sympathy from anybody -- they think I "deserve" anything that happens to me, they don't think people should be renting, they loathe landowners, they think land shouldn't be in a group at all to be rented, much less get a 10 percent bonus, they hate, hate, hate, hate. My efforts to expose and counter their initial hatred that first came at me has only turned me into their caricature of a "venom" on the forums.
But the crux of the issue is a vital disagreement about commerce and land and groups in this game, and one that needs more discussion, not less.
And ultimately, attacks on me and my group don't faze me, and only expose those who do it as like terrorists, because they hit innocent people not at all involved in forum disputes like Jake, and a hundred other tenants who want nothing to do with forums, but just came to rentals for the view.
So I hope Linden Labs can look at this issue, along with the community, of removing the ability to trigger officer recall attacks on people who buy land and pay tier on it.
