Interesting development. It might be worthwhile to create and release a "friendly" virus with no payload other than to eradicate other viruses (for extra points have it zap spyware and adware as well). And maybe it could drop a note in the user's inbox with some basic security advice to prevent further infections.
Of course, I would never do anything like that or advocate that anybody else do it. It's probably illegal. Satisfyingly altruistic, but illegal.
