How do you buy land?

I know that it has to be public land. What does it mean when it says 'Public land'. and 'No Edit'. What's the best way to locate land? Just keep flying around? I have most of the help stuff but there's nothing I can find that's detailed enough. I look for the darker colored lots but when I want to buy, it's not one of the options in the edit menu.

have you found the land tab, in the building panel? that is where you actually purchase the land. to buy the land, you just select and drag across the area you want (you need to be in the land tab), then once it is selected you push the claim land button. hope this is the info that you needed

I flew around for 5 days until I found my land, but it wasn't because I found it myself. Someone else found prime land, told a friend, who told me.

So if you want prime land, best thing to do is think of what type of land you want (in a city, in a sparsely populated area, on water, near water, in the mountains), and then ask around for where the best land is that fits what you want.

I'd be happy to show you some nice land that I know of -- just IM me inworld.

Thanks for the info. I've been flying around for a few days now, looking for land. Great plan Nada and Kerstin, yes, I will IM you next time I'm on when you're there. I think I'm slowly getting hooked on this game cause it looks like everyone is willing to help out.
