After looking for over a week, I didn't think that it would happen anytime soon to find something i would like especially in 512m. But tonite I found a piece of first land on a mature waterfront. It's not tropical unfortunately, but it certainly has a beautiful view of the moon over the water. Tomorrow, i'm going house shopping, hopefully something spacious with tintable windows (one large picture window facing the water is a must right now ), a locking door and of course low Prims! If anyone could suggest a home builder, please let me know their names or their store names and whether if they do customization. The borders on the land is not the standard rectangle shape which makes me think i do need the customization.

Congrats on your land!
Play with the building tools, you can make your own unique house for the layout of your plot. Remember, building is free! Experiment, play, and have fun with it.

Congrats with your first land! It's a great feeling. I still remember how excited I was when I stood there on my empty plot of land, head spinning with ideas on how it should look when i was done with it. Just look around and see if you find something you like. Or do as Loki says: Play around with the building tools. It's free, and fun when you start getting the hang of it. Have fun!

Congrats on finding your first land! I know how excited I was when I got mine.
I'd recommend going to the sandbox and playing with prims a bit, but if you need some nice digs in the meantime, I think that both Juro Kothari and Lord Fly both make houses that are very nice and low prim. Foolish Forest does custom builds, but I'm not sure about prim count and I think they may be custom but it never hurts to ask.
If you need landscaping stuff, IM me in world, I have a free box of trees and plants that you are welcome to.
Have fun!

I have a sand texture you can use to make a beach or sand on your lot if you like...I can help you put it down as well. I also have nice palm trees that look a little better than the big swaying Q-Tip palm trees. IM me in world this evening and I can help you out as well

Hahaha, I'm such a n00b laying out giant blocks just to figure out where my boundaries were last nite. The texture would definitely help alot!! Do the palm trees take up alot of Prims? Thank you very much everyone!

Unfortunately you can't texture land. You have to fake it with textures prims. Only island estate owners can change their land textures *cry* Congrats on your first land!

Yeah, what chip said. Unfortunatly we can't texture our own land. However congrats on finding a good first land! I still love mine. Lots of good suggestions in the thread on houses.

You would think it would be a simple code change to allow users on the mainland to change the textures, but then if you'd look at it, it would be a weird weird place, without uniform land textures. I've been griping about this for a long time, but I guess I can see why the Lindens don't let the users do that. Although.. it would be as easy as applying the texture to the selected parcel. We already have the 'revert' capabilities, I don't see why not this can't be applied to the land textures also.

If you're not a builder, like Im not, Damani makes a little villa that i own that will fit on a 512, has tintable windows and locking doors, and is mostly glass for a good view. look them up

Rose After last nite moving giant blocks around, i don't think it's quite for me to make anything yet until after i take a few sessions in the sandbox. I still have 9 days left as a newbie, in a sort of ways; living out my childhood before i get kicked out of the house by the parents .

Congrats on getting land! I remember the first land I ever had, it was such a thrill. I got it in November of 2003 in Hawthorne. Now, I have the very same plot again... but wow, has the sim changed a lot in that time! Regards, -Flip

oh sorry, yes you would texture a prim and then make a "pretend beach". As for the palm trees, I believe the Linden made ones are 1 prim each. The one I have is 3 prims but its modifiable, we can make it look good on 2. Fortunately, you will only need a couple of these. I have some tropical flowers as well if that is the theme that can be prim'd down to just make it feel cozy for ya, too

From: wuvme Karuna congrats! I remenber the first land that i got, it was in the EUROPA thingy anywayz i released that land by mistake OMG that's awful wuvme! Based on what wuvme said, it might be a good idea to set your land price at something like 999,000. Just don't check the "For Sale" button, because if you do, it will show up in plots for sale and then people get upset because they fly there and the land is really not for sale. On the other hand, setting the price to maximum allowable without checking the for sale box protects you in case you accidentally, in some lag induced fit, check the "for sale" box and there is a land scanner around that notifies someone to buy the land even before you realize your mistake. I think that I also read where it asks you if you are certain if you want to release the land now and requires you to confirm it, but I have never been brave enough to try it to see if it works. .
