The country has seen massive changes in a short period of time.

The constitution has been ammeded to demand everyone worship in one manner to avoid the constant spawning of sub-religions and divisive actions among those of hundreds of sects under one banner. However, you may not speak God's name in public, or preach in an area not designated for those gathered for the distinct purpose of doing so. It is imposing on the rights of others, and thus, a crime, punishible by law.

Due to the swelling population- and to squelch the burgeouning scourge of teenage pregnancies and abortions, families must now apply for a Goverment Approval before attempting to have a child, all pregnancies must be sanctioned by the State, any woman who violates this order will be punished according to the Law and her pregnancy can be terminated, and she rendered fertile through surgery.

To avoid the spread of AIDS through careless sexual content, anyone diagnosed with the disease, should they wish to have any type of medical care, or support must be on the Government AIDS List. This list is accessible by the public through various forums and online as a step to encourage safer sexual practices and prevent the catastrophic spread of this epidemic.

Pornography has been outrightedly banned. Anyone who posseses, traffics or publishes anything containing potentially offensive material will be punished according to the New Law. The free speech has been ammended accordingly to police minority interest in anything of this type, citing that it instigates immoral lifestyles, child molestation, and sexual addiction. This was exemplified in front of all America when Larry Flynt was executed on 8-27-07 for violating the diminishment of morality act, implemented only the year before. Books carrying sexually explicit passages, paintings, sculptures or any intellectual property from any era explicitely portraying nudity or suggesting any visible innuendo has been outlawed.

Abortion is permitted only if the child is to a married couple previously sanctioned to bring forth a new citizen, and the child has a disability, this includes any deformality, any syndrome which prevents the normal progressive function of a human, or is proven through genetic testing to be predetermined to be gay. Only then can a pregnancy be terminated.

Anyone suffering from mental illness is given authority over by a system of doctors, and required, by law to be consistantly medicated, treated and in worst case scenario, isolated for the duration of their life should they be a potential danger to other citizens. Through the new system, disability is only granted to those considered terminally unproductive citizens, while those with disabilities, but possessing a multitude of motor functions are sent to work on National farms to earn wages.

Multiple marriages are now against the Law. Should you be married and your spouse pass you in death, it is a violation of Nationally sanctioned vows to remarry, or conset to any carnal affair with anyone. This is considered adultry and punishibleby law. This is also to preserve the sanctity of marriage, and reduce spontaneous unions in places like Las Vegas. Marriage is now a lifelong instiution. Surprisingly, The Wasington post reported on 3-09-07 that only a hundred marriages a day take place nationwide since this law has been implemented.

Race preservance has been implemeted in congress. Today a bill was passed that demands each citizen must designate themselves under the origin of one specific race. This helps the Government oficially track sects of the population, and it's growth, racially. If one should be of mixed race they must affiliate with whichever one of the two they feel most associated with, and that is how they will be counted. You may choose from the following- White, Black, Hispanic, Oriental, or Indian. Be careful, should you be mixed racially, your choice may either qualify you or disqualify you for Government funds, such as grants and loans.

Senior citizens over the age of 60 are no longer permitted to operate vehicals of any kind, this is to promote safer driving conditions for those who still possess all their facilities. The slow reaction time, diminished capacities and such render them a constant liability on the street and cannot be allowed any longer.

Your internet service provider is now recording all of your activity conducted online, in public forums, email and other forms of communication to consistantly monitor conduct and look for potential threats to our country and it's citizens. This as per the new Supreme Court ruling to ammend the constitution's privacy act. This is for your own protection. No one is annonymous.

To be allowed to Travel internationally you must have a spotless criminal record and register with the new Government office of International Relations and pedestrian travel. Your permittance to travel is only temporary and must be sanctioned by said office. Should you attempt to travel abroad without registering and clearing the application process, you will be rendered guilty of suspicious activities and you will be monitored and must comply with a weekly recountance program.

All legal American citizens must comply with the new Government Coding system. Intelligent Tracking Relay Microchip- or ITRM is insterted under the dermal layer of skin at birth, and about the size of a poppy seed. This will protect children from potential kidnappers, while also providing constant monitering of previously convicted criminals. Your whereabouts are always known by the Central tracking office. This makes recovering bodies easier as well. Every American Citizen must be coded and identified.

Phaylen, you sound like you have an interesting setting for a novel, have you considered writing?

The scariest part of this statement is that tens of millions of people are so wrapped up in their personal lives that most of these changes go unnoticed. It's amazing the amount of bills that get piggybacked onto other bills most of which have nothing or very little to do with the piggybacked bills. That is the scary side of lobbies. I really don't think Jefferson and the boys intended for multi-billion dollar entities to be able to in effect buy legislation. MPAA and RIAA come to mind immediately. This type of lobbying is of course just one example of the changes I believe Phaylen is referring to, there are many more examples which permeate our society at all levels.

And yes Kex, this 2 party system has become so divided on both sides of the aisle, sometimes I wonder how both sets of ideals were fostered in the same country.I am also disappointed to watch what appears to be the Democratic party tear itself apart.

Legislation to this affect is currently being proposed in many states under the name "Assertive Community Treatment". It essentially denies persons with mental illnesses due process, by allowing them to be incarcerated for 120 hours without a Mental Hygeine hearing if they are believed to have stopped taking their medications. (So, by extension, it is also a forced drugging law.)

On the surface, these laws appeal to many well-meaning folks - but its important to place them in context.

1. Psychiatric medications are often a very blunt tool, and many have tremendously debilitating side effects. However, psychiatrists are trained to medicate with the goal of eradicating all symptoms of mental illness. A real life example of how this law would force someone to take a drug not in her best interest from my case files: Person1 is schizophrenic. Most of her symptoms can be controlled with a mild anti-psychotic, which leaves her able to hold a job and live independently. However, unless she takes a very strong anti-psychotic, she does continue to exhibit graphophilia (the compulsive desire to write). For her, the side effects of the stronger medication include eye rolls, seizures, uncontrollable drooling and in inability to concentrate well enough to hold a job. Her psychiatrist, however, continues to order it because she believes that ALL Person1's symptoms should be controlled. Person1, feeling that she'd rather deal with the graphophilia than the side effects, simply doesn't take the second, stronger medication. Under this law, she would be forced to take it. (During the 120 hour commitment, the faciilty is empowered for force medicate.)

2. Person2 is too ill to live on her own, and instead lives with her mother. Not all caregivers are benign, and her mother often uses the threat of commitment to force Person2 to do things such as sign for lines of credit that she does not wish to do. It is only because this comes out in the Mental Hygeine hearing process that her mother fails to exploit her in this way. Remove the hearing, and her mother can simply withhold medication until Person1 complies with her requests, threatening to have her incarcerated if she does not.

These are BAD laws. They deny due process to an entire category of citizens. Please find out if they are proposed in your state and FIGHT THEM!
