Got this in my email tody:
Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits. and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess which organization this is?
Give up yet? . . . Scroll down, citizen!
It's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
The same group of Idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.
You gotta pass this one on!

About as credible as random mailings usually are.
But it's funny.

Hiro, I am not sure what kind of girl you think I am? My Congresspeople only commit misdemeanors. (not counting Tom DeLay )

If somebody wants to nail Congress on petty crimes and misdemeanors, there's more than enough real foibles without fabricating a list from thin air. Let's start by kicking Don Young's (R-Alaska) fat butt for getting a pork provision in the highway bill to build a bridge outside of Anchorage... named, appropriately enough, "Don Young's Way". It's an attempt to link the pathetic port facilities of Anchorage with new development in the equally badly-sited Port McKenzie. At this point, it's essentially a road to nowhere. And a toll road at that.
Why does Don Young want a useless bridge? Well, it could be useful to some powerful and wealthy friends of his. And he is chairman of the House Transportation Committee. And expanding a port up the treacherous Cook Inlet pleases more campaign contributors than improving the infrastructure of more logically-sited ports at Valdez or Seward.
Somehow that bothers me a little more than if a representative has a low credit score.

Chicago, IL - Midnight land grabs, IL Dept of Transportation kickbacks, abuse of minority hiring regulations, licenses for money, phantom payroll workers, voter fraud, etc. Every politician from the top down is under suspicion, if not outright indictment.
Just another summer day. People don't even notice it around here anymore. We have bigger fish to fry, namely the Tribune Co. still won't provide a decent baseball team, a stadium without falling concrete, or a cheap beer.

I've heard of naming things after people after they die, or someone naming something after someone else for their achievements after they retire or come close....but someone naming a bridge after themselves while they're still in office and everything?? Holy shit, how do they fit egos that size in that building all at once?
