Tricky to answer as its so much diff ”things” in Sl..

Is it a huge robot or.. or a small cute dog (that of course dont leave any thing behind) with a necklace with the owners name on - I can think the dog are ok...

Pls tell us more - something that can be great - maybe are coming up?

...name the ”thing” to pls.. an endles 24/7 Walking Linden?.-)))

Depends upon what the object is.

If it's a deer wandering across my property I would be delighted. If it was some very lag-inducing object, I wouldn't be happy, and would probably attempt to delete or return it.

Yeah, it'd depend a lot on what the thing is. If it's a huge fifty-meter monster that's going to stand around blocking my patio, I'd probably return it... if it was something small and cute or clever looking, I'd probably watch it, take some snaps, and message my friends to come look at it.

It'd actually be kind of cool to have random cute things wander by now and then and spend a little time looking around or sleeping on my roof or whatever... stray dogs or alien scout robots or the like. :)

my idea is more like a drone, i am toying with some conceptual ideas but i would be very displeased to get it returned because "it was on my land you havent the right to put stuffs on my land"

i would like to know the position peoples have about foreing stuffs that wander around SL

--EDIT--
by the way it might be physical and phantom and have a weak tendancy to follow around peoples

I'd be more inclined to ask about this aspect, than the 'on your land' aspect. I wouldn't mind a bird or butterfly flying over my land and going on its merry way, but I'd prolly be pretty darn pissed off if it started flitting round me or following me when I'm trying to do stuff. THEN I'd return it. After subjecting it to various inhumane torture methods :p

As others have said, it's not a simple question to answer.

If I suspected it of being an info/data collector, it would be returned faster than you can say "wth?". If its ambience, like air traffic, birds, butterflies, things like that, I'm inclined to let them slide, but even then I may return them if they get to be annoying (such as if they tried to follow me, for example... That gets old VERY fast. VERY fast.)

However, no matter what it is, expect it to be returned many times. The same people that ban everyone from their land and put up kicker security scripts would return anything that wandered by as soon as it crossed their boundries.

There is a quickly growing faction of folks that ban everyone from their land, even if it's a small plot and can easily be cam'd or every detail seen from the borders.

I had some neighbors move in next to my Yabune land, where the old Perilous Pleasures stands, after I'd been there for months. They all immediately set their land to no entry, causing all my guests to have to fly up higher to gain access to my property. Why they did it? Who knows?

I would WANT traffic on my land, and visitors, and folks enjoying my build. But to each their own I guess.

How big is it? How many prims does it take up? What sort of scripts is it running? Does it lag? Is it cute, or is it creepy? Is it going to get in my face while I'm working? How long will it spend on my parcel?

If it's small and unobtrusive, how will it also be readily apparent? I routinely check my land for objects and return those items belonging to names I am not familiar with.

So the same person that teleports home any AV that flies over her land even at 200m, now wants to have a drone travel around on the land of people that she's been teleporting home? Too funny. :D

It really depends on what the object is and what its purpose is. I have airships (blimps) that run once an hour along regular routes. They're for anyone to take a tour of interesting geography and SL highlights. Other objects, however, only benefit their owner at the expense of the landowners. It's a grey area that we've all discussed (or argued) over at length. I think only LL can say if a roving object is legitimate and only on a case-by-case basis.

For me personally? If its something obvious - or if the person lets folks know what it is, a brief description of what it does.. I'm pretty cool with it.

What I haven't been cool with in the past is folks embedding minisule invisible objects in my builds, or other devices at 300m because rather than ask about it they decide to be sneaky bastards...

An honest and open approach I think (like posting a 'how do people feel about...') is a pretty good way to get people to warm to your concepts and generally help out.

Siggy.

Define "out of reach". Is that 10m? 50m? 100m?

And it does belong in this discussion. Both discussions are about privacy. What would your reaction be to a drone that went near your skypad and started following you around? You may say "hey my skypad is my private area!" Guess what, people might have the same reaction to your drone coming on their land and near their homes. So yes I feel they are related issues.

And if my home is at ground level and I consider it private? Again, no difference between my private home and your private 'skypad'.

I have my land set to autoreturn after 30 minutes, so if it stays more than 30 minutes, yes it would be returned.

Kyrah, could you clarify what the purpose of this drone is?

For example: -

-is it intended to be an artificial lifeform?

-is it intended to collect data?

-is it intended to communicate something?

-does it advertise anything?

-is it intended to harm anyone?

The answers to those questions would make a huge difference as to how well your object was received by me, and likely others. :)

A drone bot would be cute, especially if it did something new all the time. A land scanner is bad news. Lag is bad too of course.

It's nice of you to post here asking what people think, Kyrah. If you get a good response to your drone when it's out in the world you could always post again to collect and disseminate feedback.

I like freedom and a creative spirit myself :)

I think as long as what you're doing doesn't infringe on anyone's right to privacy or interferes with their enjoyment of this place, then it should be fair game.
