As Ryan Linden points out in this Announcement thread, there are new "Void" sims between the vehicle sims and their nearest neighbours, Rizal, Tahema, Daboom, etc.. If this works out, this is very cool stuff. Now we can fly directly from Abbotts to the vehicle park without having to go through the laggy Cordova sandbox. Ryan, if this works, will there be voids on the outside edges of the world, or will you only fill in gaps on the inside?

I'm actually more interested in what is different about these sims that they are looking for "performance under extremes". Are all of these sims hosted on a single physical machine or something like that?

We've already had a nice thread discussing the void sims. Two of them, in fact. Yes, they're all hosted on one server as far as we can tell.

I can, and you can check for yourself! Go to each sim and goto Help - About Second Life and look at the sim number for each one, or rather the address of it, they all have the same server address. However I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Since I'm not a Linden, Linden confirmation would still be nice!

Can the Void sims not be called "Void"..? Can we like, vote on the sim names if you guys can't think of what to call them? Void12 Void3 etc just seems very non-aesthetic.

Would love if this happens, I asked for it many times...
would love to be able to fly anywhere in the world without hitting an invisble wall and have to move around it, or worse have to teleport as no way to get there...
I want a complete world, even if it is flat..lol

Why don't we name them after bodies of water: Black Sea, Lake Michigan, Indian Ocean, etc.

request to the lindens...is it possible to put some void Sims between the telehub and the new Lakeside sims (and their neighboring sims). Right now, when you plan on TPing to a location in those sims you can't go straight to the Marker but need to go around the current blank spot. This is a severe disincentive to buy land there. thanks by the way, i love the concept of spaces where we can just fly or saidl unobstructed. thanks!

Exploring some of them now in my Black Spy submarine...they're wonderful! So glad these have been added and am hopeful three will find their way to the region around Miru, Vaoetere and Rausch. It would be so cool to be able to cruse from my home in Natoma only to die a sudden, vilolent death in Rausch! I think this heralds a lot of Good Stuff (tm) to come! Lumi

That would be very cool if they did this... it's at the point now where i can't fly anywhere because of the Lag and the high buildings i can't see as they load there for i crash into them LOL.. i say yes to void sims
