Requiem for a Disco

I'm going to miss the Disco in DaBoom, although I never attended a single event there.

I can usually only use the computer late at night. My first time in SL I saw some impressive architecture (like the Japanese town in Dore) but no people. Trying to guess where the residents might head late at night, I opened Landmarks and found the Disco.

I went there and found several players just outside who immediately introduced themselves and helped me get acclimated. I had to logout soon and I still didn't quite "get" SL, however, and thought my next visit might be my last.

The next night I reappeared at the same place and they were there again to answer more questions, and they showed me how to build things. I spent more time and discovered some of the social aspects of SL before logging (I befriended a demoness, a fairy-vampire-thing, and what appeared to be a couple of bikers -- Darque, Taessa, Leonardoe and Nica, if you're curious).

All through the following day, I kept thinking of things I might be able to build. My third visit, I bought a plot of land next to the Disco and started working on my little chapel-in-the-sky. I was hooked.

In the months that followed, I kept an eye on the Disco, and whenever I saw a single blip in it I'd head over to see if it were another new resident and introduce myself.

I was happy when I heard that the Disco was under new management, but saddened when I learned that the new owner was (understandably) moving it to a less-laggy sim.

It's gone now and the land is already being reused. I'm sure the new Disco will be superiour in every way, but I just wanted to publically say goodbye to the old one.

It was ugly and usually empty, but it will be missed.

Sadly I never got around to going to see the disco. I heard it was going to be blown up the first week I started I think. Same went for Open Flame which I take it was another disco type place :p Always meant to see 'em but never did. I'll have to wait for the rebuild.

Heck, Ill rebuild it for you. I have half of all the parts since I never empty trash, and if Disco Linden still has his, it's a matter of rezzing every prim and shouting "undo" to make them all go back to their original places :)
Special thanks to Christopher Omega for this wonderful bit of scripting :D

Disco Demolition

Yes, Madox, I really tried to be there for the demolition but it didn't work out. I saw some practice runs so I know how it looked (pretty nice scripting!).

Having missed the official event, I just thought I'd say goodbye here.

The Open Flame is still there. It's Thai's place in Perry, I think, and we have a lot of parties there. You can't miss it as it's just next the Amphitheatre and has a BIG rainbow flag on the wall.
