Since the SA invasion began, and to a smaller extent even before that, I've read many posts saying something along the lines of, "They just want attention. If you ignore them, they will get bored and go away".
Ok..I can understand that to a certain degree. But on the other hand, if everyone ignores the unpleasantness that goes on around them, they are, in a way, accepting and permitting it.
How about this idea instead:
If someone is being an obvious asshole, or being diruptive, hateful, obnoxious, griefing and generally being a pain in the ass, everyone that is present and in anyway bothered by their behavior gets right in their face and tells them so in no uncertain terms. No gentle "Can I help you?". No "Let me try to understand how society has hurt you". No "I feel your pain and would like to understand you better".
Just plain, raw, "We don't appreciate your stupid, moronic and immature behavior and your actions only prove what a true fool and waste of air you really are. Now get out of here and go ask your mommy or daddy for some crayons and a coloring book".
If people speak up and speak out, in public and quite plainly, I think these immature (whether mentally, physically, or both) clowns will get the idea much faster than "ignoring them". Because if you ignore them, they just try something louder, meaner, and more obnoxious. Or they get sneakier.
As tough and uncaring as they act, many of them are obviosly followers and sheep, hoping to gain their peers approval by acting out. That means they very much care what the people around them think of them, and also means that many of them are cowardly, craven little snots that hide their actions in mob activities and then claim innocence when they are singled out.
Does this mean we should all jump on someone for the slightest reason? That we should all speak out against someone that simply had a bad day? No! It means that we speak out against those that only want to be harmful or disruptive or mean. And they are easy to spot. If you have any trouble telling if they are that type, then by all means "ignore" them....
I detest rudeness for the sake of being rude. I detest those that think it's cool to cause others harm for their own amusement. I despise those that hate someone just because they are different. I spit on those that think it's funny to cause an innocent any kind of anguish.
They can blame society, their peers, the victim, the system, their mommies, the tooth fairy, etc. It doesn't change the fact that what they are doing is wrong, and they know very well that it's wrong. Yet they do it anyway.
Ok..just a thought. Hope you all have a great day!
