Hi,

I just started off in my Second Life and was going through the Orientation course available at the start of the program.

However, I suddenly found myself in a place called......... Arlen? I think I inadvertently used the Teleport Home command when I was checking out all the features of the interface and landed up in an unknown place on top of a cliff or something.

Is there any way that I can go back to start? Or a way to *reset* my account? I don't mind losing all the things I did and start all over again, I didn't do much anyway.

I just want to finish off the full Orientation course and move on from there.

Can anybody help me out with this?

Thanks in advance,
Dhiraj Gupte.

you landed in the welcome area, called ahern, I dont think there is a way to go back.. unless you make a new account witha different name, which it will cost about 9 bucks rl money.

Might try to talk to a linden... but im not sure if they are gonna let you go back.

Oh man, that sucks!

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to learn things the hard way then.

In any case......... if I wanted to......... how would I contact any of the Linden people?

Thanks,
Dhiraj.

look in your screen.. there is the "FIND" button and then go to the "PEOPLE" tab

type "Linden" and they will help you :)

or you can...

go to "HELP" on top of your screen,
then "LIVE HELP" it will open an IM windows.. whenever you need help type what you want in that IM box.. and helpers will help you :)

To find a person, click the Find button at the bottom of the main window.
A window will pop up, click the People tab and do a search for the name you want to find.
In this case simply Linden will do.

First of all, a warm welcome to SL, Dhiraj -- you're all the way from India? WOWZERS!

Second, you can't go back to the Orientation Island. I've asked this before. However, what you can do is go to the Orientation Stations in Dore to practice your skills. The landmark is:

Dore (30, 100)

It looks different than the OIs but will teach you the same prerequisite skills. Best of hope!

You could simply hang around the welcome area for a little while. Don't be afraid to ask questions! Most people will be happy to help you. SL is a bit awesome at first I still remember !

Or... you can do like many other new players, and just hang around the Welcome Area in Ahern and ask for money and free stuff.

;-)

P.S. Seriously though, hopefully a Linden can let you go back to Orientation Island. Its well worth the effort to go through the whole thing so you can learn how to navigate in SL.

Awesome it is!

There are so many options, settings and things I can do that the mind boggles.

One thing though, out here I am not getting the awesome Internet speeds that you guys must get and I was wondering if there was any way of optimizing the experience for low bandwidth connections, like mine.

Other than that, I'm having a great time finding things out! :)

Unless you really need to practice getting that beach ball on top of the table (do they even do that anymore?) you're not missing too much. It mostly teaches very basic skills like flying, walking and looking. There are plenty of people to help you out.

I've decided to not go back to Orientation Island...... I'll try out stuff and you people (and people in world) are always willing to help.

So yeah, I think I'll make it. ;)

Welcome to Second Life Dhiraj!! :D

In addition to the tips and links above, you may also find the SLuniverse Knowledge Base helpful. You can find that here: http://www.sluniverse.com/kb/

And as everyone else has stated, you can find a lot of help just hanging out in the welcome area.

Have fun! :)

Welcome Dhiraj,

Go to Boardman. Ingrid Ingersoll has set copies of the orientation stations out in her park. I've dropped a landmark on you. If you press the teleport button on the landmark, then follow the red arrow to the tall red bar of light, you'll be there.

Hi Dhiraj. Welcome to Second Life!

We don't reset accounts like that. Once you've left Orientation Island, you can't go back.

BUT...there are copies of all the Orientation Stations in Dore (33,99). I listed it in my last week's Pathfinder's Picks list. I just dropped a copy of it on you inworld.

Here's what I said:

From: someone
4) REVISIT ORIENTATION ISLAND STATIONS AND LEARN MORE BASIC SKILLS

Did you breeze through Orientation Island? No worries...lots of Residents do that. But you have a second chance to go through the helpful tutorials! You cannot go back to the island itself, but there's a great place in Dore that has all of the same tutorials. The theme of the area is a wonderful old Japanese castle. Stop by and practice all your Second Life skills!

Orientation Stations, Dore (33, 99)
