Here's the step by step guide to making plants, flowers, and trees, that's I've been promising people. Hope you find it useful. Since so many people have been asking me for textures for them (and I just took down everything I had lol), I'll put some together - hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks,
Candie

How To Make Plants/Flowers/Trees

Create a thin panel with a depth of .01. Length and height depend on the length and height of the texture you're using. It's better to make it too small than too large.

Making the plant bigger when it's done through stretching will cause fewer problems -- just go slowly so you don't make it too big and cause your textures to stretch and or blur, or to have size down again, which can make your panels too large.

Duplicate your 1st panel using Shift and drag up on the blue arrow. Immediately hit Ctrl Z to Undo. This will align both panels perfectly.

Check on your Snap to Grid to help keep all your panels aligned.

Rotate one panel so it intersects with the other forming a 90 degree angle. Link the 2 panels.

Repeat the above steps with the 2 linked panel object. That is, Shift and drag up on the blue arrow to duplicate. Immediately hit Ctrl Z to align the objects. Rotate.

You can use 3 panels instead of 4 if you are concerned about the costs of the 4th panel. For most people this will be a negligible cost.

Link all your panels.

**Cover your entire object with a transparent texture. Easiest way to do this is to drag your transparent texture from your inventory onto your Texture box in the Texture tab.

Now apply your plant texture, which must be an alpha channel, to the front and back face of each panel in your object. That means you will place the plant texture 8 times (on 8 faces).

If you see texture on the edges of your panel, it means you tried to take short cuts ;). Go back and repeat the steps from the ** above.

It takes some practice to remember all the steps, and execute them without thinking. Practice making different sized plants, flowers, and trees.

Then have fun making planters and vases for them, and when you get one you like -- please come show me - I'd love to see it.
