I have a question/concern. I have someone on mute. They just dropped something to my inventory. Its a notecard. So whats the point of mute if they can still send notecards spouting crap to you in your inventory?

That's how muted people get around being muted. The ones we want to ignore are slick like that. There needs to be an option to ignore people in a way so they can't harrass with notecards or by sending items, as well as just muting chat/ims.

Did it not give you the option to Decline? I thought this bug had been corrected. For ref: /invalid_link.html

Can you decline if you are offline?

I believe the blue Accept/Decline UI box is supposed to show up on Login. It didn't work for me for a while (I'd gotten landmarks from people I didn't know, and didn't even know they'd been sent to me). But after one of the updates it worked. Perhaps it's broken again.

yeah lately I don't get the option to accept or decline when given inventory when I am offline. It just automatically goes into my inventory. And yeah, I am a nosey wench so I am going to look. I can't help that part. lol

I have received notecards and inventory items while offline. I just get a msg that says 'So and So gave you something'. Never a choice to accept or decline. I never get a notice when I get sent a notecard tho...I just find them when going through my notecard folder on occasion.

I don't believe notecards even do give you the option to accept/decline, do they?

You can decline the notecard... the button is on the bottom of the window showing you the notecard.

You know, I can see why the Lindens want notecards to display opon being given - as they use that on Orientation Island to give instruction to the new users -but c'mon! If we have a user muted would it really be so difficult to autodecline inventory from them too? Sheeeeeeesh!

yes but that is after the notecard is already in your inventory. You can keep or discard, where it just goes to your trash. So for your scenario, you have to open the notecard and you see what is there.

I just thought that when I have someone on mute, it just blocks any interaction between the two parties.

Eh? When someone hands me a notecard when I'm logged in, the friggin' thing shows up on my screen with "keep" and "discard" buttons on the bottom, muted or not. That's what the roll-eyes is about, as it's just a route for an abuser to keep abusing.
Same with textures.

As well it should be. Current program behavior isn't making a ton of sense.

lol sorry, misread your post...we are saying the same thing. ;)

Yes it does the same for me when I am logged in. So when I am not, it just drops it in there and yes I am guilty of my curiosity getting the best *or worst* of me and reading the offending garbage.

Okay, this tells you how much I DON'T read notecards. I don't know if this has ever happened to, since my need to check a notecard only happens once in a great while. And then, if I see something that is utter pointless for a title, I just go "Delete." Never opening it, never seeing what it's about. I'm curious by nature, but spam is spam and should wind up in that nice oval can!

Something is broken then, because its supposed to auto decline any inventory offers from a muted person. A friend and myself tested this a few months ago. He put me on mute, and I dropped a bunch of different items on his profile. Each time, I got a message saying something like, "so and so has declined your inventory offer".

It'd also be quite cool to have it extend to sales too - like, a person simply can't initiate a pay transaction if they're on the owners mute list.

I had someone who I explicitly put on mute because they were going out of their way to be annoying buy something from me so that they had a 'legitimate excuse' to IM me for support. And then of course spread it around that I was crap at servicing customers with complaints.

I can handle that myself in a vendor with a simple blacklist, but if it's just a box with contents set to sell, I can't do a lot about it.

And I suppose it is a concern, really, from the customer perspective. If I have decided for whatever reason that I do not wish to engage in any kind of exchanges with a given person, they might not necessarily know that - and buy my product. I know that there are people who have me on mute who I dont actually have any beef with personally and would buy their stuff *snicker*.

If someone on mute gives you a notecard full of crap and abuse why not simply pass it on to your nearest smiling Linden?

Thats a good idea, IF the notecard is no modify, if it is, how can the Lindens prove who really wrote it? without the annoying idiot that sent it saying, I didn't write that! She/He must have made it up, added to it etc etc.

If you catch my drift.

Yep, and they made it no transfer. I could still transfer that information to a new notecard but then it would show me as the creator.

Actually, just to follow up on this...the notecard I got was actually a...hmmm, confession*?* of some sort. They are still on mute and I am sitting back waiting for karma to kick in. *giddy at the thought*

I've only every muted one account. But I still got group IMs that they posted. I bug reported it assuming that I shouldn't be getting them. I'd've bug reported notecards as well.

I agree with Kris' nopay idea as well. If someone doesn't exist, they don't exist. Make them go away.

just discovered that even when not on Mute, an inventory drop goes by without the "Accept/Decline" option. this was fixed for a while. guess the whole problem is back.

(now let me go back to searching through my Inventory to figure out what was given to me... *sigh*)

This is my kind of thing. If I don't want to listen to 'em, I don't want stuff from them either. I don't want it near my inventory or near my land.

I just want mute to be "*poof* They no longer exist in my little world"
