Farewell To Tyrell Corp and Friends...

Folks,

I had to be away for an extended period for a familly emergency, and when I returned, I learned my account had been 'expunged'. This was a month and a half ago, and I have been trying to get either my stuff restored or a finall answer to what is going on since then.

Well today I got that final answer from Dan Linden..

It looks like my character cannot be recoverd from the 'expunge', and Dan does not know if there is a backup to restore from or if it can be done.

All this has made me very upset.

I am told now this will require me to create a new account name with a new CC, since this one is now unusable.

I can't tell you how much stuff I lost, but It was all very hard work and I don't think I want to start over, so I have decided not to come back for now.

My Japanese garden is lost, and now so am I.

Will I find my way again, who knows...

I'm sorry to hear it Goss, and I wish something could be done. While it sounds like you have made up your mind, I would love to see you back - even if you need a new account. I know how tough it is to lose a bunch of stuff you worked ahrd on, but one of the things I like so much about secondlife is the process of "starting". I deleted my old stuff, and start again, doing something new. Give it a try - come back and start again - if its still not fun - well, hey - its still free until release, whenever that is.

And the memory of Gossyen Electric will live on in my inventory (well, a few things - wish I had gotten the bee swarm)

i sent you everything of yoy had ever given me a copy of... bender head, the samurai helmet... tron bike... if you do come back we can get you set up again... not with all of your stuff, but probably a good chunk of it...

i thought i would over use '...' so you would want to come back and beat me up for it...

Well,

The things you sent I appreciate, the problem is that they never show up on my character because its expunged, and my account gets wiped daily now because of the way expunged works.

I could start over, I don't have a second credit card though, If there was a way to clear my old accounts CC, then maybe I could make a new Avatar.

I will think on it over night, and see what tomorrow brings.

There must be some way to make this work. I remember hanging out at the original welcome area and seeing the bees for the first time. I thought the world had shifted to a whole new gear.

Well that sounds dumb that you can't create a new avatar just cause of a cc. Alls I could suggestis to try getting another one. I have too many as it is so I imagine I hopefully would never encounter this problem.

I'm sorry to hear that our clean up process caught you in its grasp <looks for time machine to go back and set all right>. The "inactive" designation only applies to the beta as we try to free up land and resources for current residents.

Gosseyn - I've reset your account to the defaults. Next time you login you'll start in Prelude with the default avatar, cash balance, and inventory. Stuff should stay in your inventory reliably now.

This is a completely untested maneuver, so let us know if things still seem broken.

Thanks to everyone who has helped here, I appreciate the time spent to resolve this issue.

My Avatar has returned with the default setup, and $3500L. Everything loads correctly for me now. So It looks like My avatar is back ok. I will post again tomorrow to let you know for sure.

One problem is that there is quit a bit of severe lag, so I havent been able to do anything at all yet.

I will keep trying, It's hard to stay away. so you got me there.

I still am sad to lose my stuff, but maybe a fresh start will help me out somehow.

I will see you all in game, if you see me and I dont respond, its probably because of the lag.
