lease property?

In the current news theres a press note that says


From: someone
In the future advanced users, teams of players, or software developers will be able to lease "Private Islands" within the Second Life world. Each of these 16 acre islands will reside on a dedicated server capable of supporting large development projects, themed communities, or specialized game experiences.


"Lease" implies we will not be able to purchase this land as we do now but rather will be alotted periods of time to use these spaces. Are these time periods yet defined? Will the leases be less than purchase? This is an interesting idea that I can see will have use for some however I would expect a large group with a themed build would want a more permenamt home.

What are your thoughts on leased land?

I believe the plan allows permanent purchase of land.
