I wrote an external web app that sits on top of a database, to build a master catalog of video streams which can be linked and played inside SL. Here's a screenshotted "how to" of how this whole process works (its hard to describe in words).

STEP ONE: Rez the viewer prim in world on your own land. If it is group land, please read additional steps that need to be taken here: http://www.SLGuide.com/help/

STEP TWO: Click the viewer prim. A dialog will appear to the land owner (or group member, in group land situations; must be wearing the correct group tag. Again, see help.)

STEP THREE: Click VIDEO. FreeView will set up to play video on the plot.

STEP FOUR: Click WEBGUIDE. SL will prompt you to visit the web site.

STEP FIVE: Choose a link from the SLGuide.com web site. Click it, and it will automatically play on your prim in world!

STEP SIX: Switch back to SL and watch the movie you clicked; it will start playing in several seconds (or longer, depending on buffering!)

Certain flash films require you to hit PLAY after it loads. To do this, simply click the VIEWER prim again, and hit PLAY.

Feel free to add media URLs to http://www.SLGuide.com - they will be checked to make sure they play correctly in Second Life and then approved by our team.

We hope you enjoy this and are curious to see how it grows. It was a lot of hard work (mostly on Crys's part!), but should be a lot of fun too!
