I just feel I wanted to find the right place to give my views on yard sales. I LOVE going to them, and have purchased quite a few things. One thing that really bothers me is people that put out all kinds of freebies they have in their inventory (I know because I had the same freebies in inventory myself) and have the nerve to put them out for sale at ridiculously absorbidant prices.
Now I understand it is free enterprise and ANYONE can sell ANYTHING...but geeze, that is just pushing the issue. I feel sorry for the newbies that perhaps have bought first land and are looking for a few things to furnish their home. Pity they don't know to just look in their library, they could have saved their Lindens for something legitimate and not made the players pockets fatter.
I went to one today and there had to be at LEAST a dozen items that were freebies, a PUMPKIN for $50L. Unreal. This person who was running the sale (whom I will not mention because I will not personally bash) is the owner of a club, I guess business must be bad otherwise they are just plain greedy.
Personally, when I go to a yard sale that I see this, I will NOT buy one single thing just on principle.
Anyway, just my thoughts..and I am sure there are one or two of you that agree with them.

I just set out me own wares and up the price by a couple hundred. This is stuff I've actually made. Occassionally people buy them.

I hate that, too, Vixen. I never buy from someone who is doing that, even if the price is just $2 instead of $50. This is of course completely different from Yadni's place, or anyone who goes to a lot of trouble to assemble a collection of freebies for sale - in which case they certainly deserve their $1 for the trouble, and for the abiity to track the takers and popularity of each item. The ones I'm talking about charge $2 not for a collection, but just for one tired item, sometimes already sitting there in the library. It's taking advantage of new players, pure and simple. coco

For some quick comic relief, I always think of this link every time I read threads on yard sales: http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail129.html
