LMAO - good one. I gained 6 lbs on the "Fatkins" diet and I seriously followed it.

I think that some peoples bodies are just different so they respond to diets accordingly. I've lost 37 lbs since February just doing pretty much my own thing, which was eliminating all refined foods from my diet. So I eat carbs, just as long as they are in their original natural state. It worked for me, but it may not work for someone else.

I lost 30 lb on the Akins Diet, when I went off (been off for 2 years now) I only gained 10 back. My Dad lost 60 and gained 5 back. Wife lost 5 and gained 20. Mother lost 20 and gained 20.

Mmmmm... waffle sundae...

My mom is currently doing the South Beach Diet... she's lost about 13 pounds so far, she's been on it for about 6 weeks I think.

I've done Atkins, and it was crap for me. I did Body for Life, and it worked well, but after about 3 months I got tired of eating the same things over and over. It has you eat 5 small meals a day, so you end up eating the same things alot, and it gets boring.

The only way I've ever successfully lost weight is to just eat very little all week, but atleast once a week I'll up my intake for about a day to spike my metabolism back upwards and make up for the vitamins and minerals I'm likely deprived of for several days.... especially potassium. It's very obvious when that gets low, but nothing a couple OJ's won't fix. :) Once your stomach shrinks down enough you don't even want the food anymore.

That's exactly how I've started eating recently and I lose about 5 pounds a week. I don't even eat rice unless it is sprouted and uncooked.

I don't quite get what you're saying :) But to clarify, my meaning is I've never done well with any of the fad diets I've tried... cutting this specific thing out or that. It all boils down to taking in less than you use. As long as you get enough protein and excercise to make sure you're not losing mostly muscle, and make sure you don't deprive yourself of vitamins, then you have to just do what will work for you.

I'm on a beer and fatburger diet atm... so far it's working well.. Sure I'm gonna be fat as a bastard and have my heart explode... but at least I'll die happy and contented :)

Seems like most diets I see nowadays are along the lines of 'live forever if you eat roasted chipmunk shit!'.... If I can't have my fatburger, I don't wanna live.

I like to consider the alternatives, so you can learn from my mistakes.

Siggy.

I'm on the "I-have-no-power-over-what-my-mother-makes-me-eat" diet, its worked out good, I've lost about 5 pounds since giveing birth to my 2nd daughter, exept the part where she yells like its a Truck stop diner, that throws me off completely,

God bless angry asian mother's, without her inrageing terror and the fact that she knows my third name and I don't

So far, day 164. I'm still alive,

Yet I do still have internet connection so all is not lost,

Save me Foamy one kanobi, your my last hope, :p

Same here.

My parents have been eating Atkins style for years. It seems to be working for them, but there's no way I could stick to that.

Some tricks (borrowed from all over) I use to stay thin:
  1. I eat only when I'm hungry, and stop when I'm full.
  2. Lean meat (or meat substitutes), fresh veggies (try farmer's market veggies if you get a chance- they taste much better than the supermarket ones
  3. whole grain carbs (wheat bread, brown rice) in moderation
  4. no snack foods in the house to tempt me (crackers, chips etc..)
  5. avoid deep fried foods (donuts, french fries, onion rings, chicken fingers etc..)
  6. a large suppy of teas. Not the wacky "diet teas", just regular varieties of black, green and herbal teas. This is great for when I'm bored and want a snack. They come in a million flavors and, since they're sipped slowly, they last longer than, say, a handful of chips.
  7. no soda with sugar.

That being said, I've found I can work modest amounts of "bad" food. For example, if someone brings donuts to work, I may cut myself a piece of a donut so I'm not deprived. I treat my self to a mini deserts, such as 2-3 Oreos or small pieces of candy per day. And one or two times a week I'll treat myself to a not-so-healthy meal, like a cheeseburger.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!
