You cant. The only way to get a new name is to get a new account.

Only way to get a new name is to get a new account. To get a new name, you need a new account. A new account is needed for a new name. For a name which is new you need an account which is eqaully new.
Does that cover it? ;P

By getting a new account, you are able to get a new name, therefore changing your old name by using the new account rather than your old account, which has your old name, and thereby effectively gives you a brand new name which is different from your old name, by the use of the new account.
Sorry about that Darwin guy's response, he's lazy and tends not to explain things fully. Sigh.

With a new account, your name could be Mojo Jojo.

No, this is Mojo Jojo
The new name getting, which is what you desire to be doing, getting a new name, that is, is most easily acquired by getting a new account, which will, in turn give you the new name that you so desire, which cannot be changed in your current account, but only by getting a new account, which is how this new name shall be gotten.

Wins what? A new account, with a brand new name? Or a new name, complete with a brand new account?

Name changes / aliases would be a nice feature enhancement someday.
It is, after all, very difficult to be the mysterious stranger at the masquerade ball with freakin BIG GREEN LETTERS HANGING OVER YOUR HEAD!
Um, sorry... I feel better now.
More use cases: Married avatars? Superheroes/heroines? Stage Names? Themed groups (sorry, the group titles don't always work for me, especially since they are effectively transitory ) ? Stealth mode? Heck, a change in the avatar's concept/theme might deserve a name change... perhaps "Devilish Grimm" decides her avatar's true personality more closely reflects a good fairy princess... (ok, reaching a bit)
It may be that the use of the "original" name is too closely tied to the current accounting system to be easily implemented, and aliases CAN go hand-in-hand with abusive behavior. But I think it's worth considering in some fashion.
Personally, I'd like the masquerade ball effect. How about a "Hide Avatar Names" land (or sim) option, perhaps tied to specific events and toggled by Lindens?
I dunno, just blue-skying...

Or, upgrade your old name (and old account) with a new... PRONUNCIATION!
That's RIGHT! For a limited time, YOU TOO can get new life out of your old, worn-out name... WITHOUT resorting to drastic steps or buying off-brand new accounts.
Just look at Aces Spade here... With our service, he saved himself a FISTLOAD of cash and became known as "Ax-es Spa-dee" for NO MONEY DOWN!
Darwin Appleby, with the use of this service, became "Dare-wine Ape-leh-bee" on our easy layaway plan: 30 DAYS, SAME AS CASH!
And yours truly, Tiger Crossing, became "Mumbledink Poodlehopper" and I loved it so much, I bought the company!
Act now! Supplies are limited! Operators are standing by! I'm entirely too tired to be posting today!

Sinclair made some good points regarding the accounting system. It strikes me as odd that that has to be the same as the name above someones head... Also, why should an alias result in increased abusive behaviour? OK sure, it will for a week or two until the abusers realise that it's simple for the Lindens to see who was wearing what alias when... at least, I hope they could if they're running a game this complex.

I feel your pain Aces, if not for a cruel twist of fate and a slip of the trackball I would be a Tesla.
