my goodness, SLers (or Main Gridders).. what a hubbub over the TG!!

i just really wanted to say that out of an entire recent thread i saw one comment on the first page i wanted to reply to, but.. feh.. it was useless after reading the rest of thread, knowing my comment would be out of place.. which technically would've been OT anyhoo..

From: someone
Aru Opel said: I think I was more surprised by a Teen Gridder having a coherent and interesting blog than I was about the Tringo part...

and quite right at that.. as a matter of fact, i went ahead and read the whole freaking sites worth of blogs and you know what? these kids are going to give us a run for our Lindens!

Aesop Thatch is the TGer who writes the thing and he's great! what a lucid writer! his observations are fairly on point and he's not afraid to say what he's thinking.. not sure if should be looking over my shoulder or getting ready to write a paycheck.. or maybe i'll be asking HIM for a job! lol..

seriously though, one thing stuck out.. well, more than one (i read about The Black Sun club being in the TG!) but i digress.. this thing was that he had meandered over to the MG forums. i know he's also checked out the SLU forums.. and the poor guy, he's going to be 18 someday and then he'll have to come over here with us.

why do i say poor kid? because from what he saw, we're a bunch of venom spewing adults who aren't acting much like adults compared to the teens.. :(

i wanted to respond and let him know that not all of us MGers are so bad.. but registering for the site was disabled. point is, we're not really all that bda and i was going to tell him how it really does matter that we have thousands and thousands of SLers here compared to their "~200".. likening it to high schools. one that has approx. 200 kids in the whole (9 - 12) high school will have less problems/fights/"griefing" than one with 100 - 200+ kids per grade.

anyhoo.. i can't wait for these kids to reach 18 and get here.. maybe we'll be able to learn something from them. but alaso, i can't wait to see what these bright young minds bring to SL..

i apologize for my somewhat harsh words, but.. it's just sad when i see a kid writing intelligently about his world (TSL) and noticing how ours has a lot of sharp teeth.

k, withdrawing my claws and putting away the nuns' ruler.. and remember, i love this place and all it has.. and the "community" as well.

I have met some of the teens before they were sent to the Teen area. They are so creative and energetic. I was proud to know them, and sad to see them leave SL, but also glad that they would be building in their own area.

Look out SL, when these teens become 18, and some are already, then they might turn everyone on their ear!

I am back from vacation with all my little cousins and let me tell you, they know their shit. About computers, about current affairs, fashion...

I wouldn't underestimate them ever! :D

Wow, they stole the Bub Linden Feted Inner Core graphic! Maybe I should make a complaint to LL in conjuction with the DMCA. :-)

Yeah, I noticed Aru Opel's comment too, and I almost wrote a seething response. It's pretty much futile at this point, though. Agism seems to be popular in the forums, and no amount of telling people how impossibly unfair they're treating young folks will change their behaviors. It's sickening.

I just remember back to when I was that age. Modesty aside, I know I was fairly mature and well-spoken when I was a teen, because lots of adults told me. It was incredibly frustrating to be snap-judged as a mindless teeny-bopper and treated as such when I was well on my way to being a mature adult. I promised myself I wouldn't forget what it was like... and I did, because we all do, but I know that I was quite lucid and mature, and quite understandably frustrated.

Of course, not all teens are as mature as the one that wrote this blog. Lots of adults aren't either, but everyone's tired of hearing people say that. The thing is, if people are so quick to snap-judge teens as immature like Aru and others have done, perhaps it's because they remember themselves at that age. Not every young person is a moron, and treating them that way hurts them all.
