Has anyone else tried this? Sometimes I have to close my laptop real fast. Like when I'm at work and I have to go do something or running late getting ready for work. The times I have done this when SL is running has produced an interesting situation. When I open my laptop, the client is still running but of course I'm no longer connected. I can't move or interact with anything, but I have camera access and I can move the camera around.
The first couple of times it happened were by accident. I thought it was cool because it was like a 3d snapshot I could zoom around in. One day I was going on an 8 hour train ride and thought it would be nice to take my lot with me and I did. I used the opportunity to take some pictures and show off my place to a fellow passenger.
Some neat things, my orcas were still moving and the water still moved. The Moon was just coming up and the sun was setting so I took some really cool pictures. Oh and I could adjust the draw distance and turn off and on the property lines. Oh and I can move things around but of course they won't be moved when I log back on. I'll have to quit and log back in once I'm back to an internet connection.
I just thought this was a neat way to "take SL with me". Anyone else try this?

Oh this happens to me all by itself, without me needing to do anything special In fact it's the usual way SL logs out for me, and most fun is that it's often hard to tell that I've logged out, particularly if I'm editing something. Most of the things you do when editing, pretty much everything except for linking, copying or creating new objects, you can do in this "unoffline" (with reference to "undead" state. But they won't be saved to the server! I hadn't previously thought of it as a useful trick

Neat perspective I never thought of the client-disconnection like a 3d snapshot before. That phenominon also happens when you disconnect your computer from the internet. No need to close your laptop, just disconnect your network cable, and that should give you the same thing. ==Chris

3d screenshot....It would be pretty cool if we had an option while online to take 3d screenshot, this could then be opened while offline and/or sent to a friend like we could a normal snapshot.
Sounds like a weird error that could turn into a pretty neat feature...
