So my dream is dead..

The embassy is jsut too expensive for me to maintain right now.

I invite all to come and take a look at it. It is only half complete but the general style is present.

It is somewhere around taber (150,100). I will take it down sometime tonight and save it for later.

I think I will open a store there instead. Something taht might generate income.

Hmm.. guess that means I need products to sell.

hehe, that about sums up the state of the majority of my projects, but it was well done (even if i didnt really see the point in an embassy, although some civic harmony would be nice...but lets not ask for too many miracles here, lol). At anyrate, it was a good effort, and dont let this get you down, there'll be plenty of other things to try.

Actually Asher, I thought an off-Jessie embassy was a fantastic idea.

A few days ago on the WW2OL forums, someone brought up the idea of a political structure for the WW2OLers. If you were at, or read the notes about, the community meeting a few days ago, we talked about setting up governments for each server.

Personally, I think thats a great idea. It would add a lot of depth to the game and add to the roleplaying perspective. Each server would elect a set of represenatives....a leader, an ambassador...maybe a few other positions, such as Interior to regulate building....and these governments...elected by the landowners of a given sim...would determine the course of that sim.

The Lindens, of course, would have the final say...we wouldnt want to create a patchwork of sims, so I am sure they are thinking this idea over carefully. But it seems to me that this is a logical direction for the game to take. I would guess that there are politics in virtually every sim in the game right now...in a broad sense of the term. There are people with good ideas...popular ideas...and there are already plenty of mechanisms in the game to measure that.

I think this is a real possibility, and something I believe the Lindens will do..in some form. This is a very reactive/proactive bunch of devs here and you guys are lucky...no offense, Killer, I realize WW2OL is a way different game...and you have the great luxury of being able to change areas and aspects of the game very easily.

I think part of the future of this game may be politics, and I would like that. However, I think there should also be non-politic sims and areas, too...areas that have the same feel as the game has today. I have no clue how many total sims there are in the game, but it seems to me that there is a lot of room for a little of everything.

And I think this game is going to grow. The more opportunities the Lindens allow people thru things like political participation, which benefits hardcore RPers like me....and the more opportunities the Lindens allow people thru careful play balancing in the weapons and defense style of playing, which benefits FPS guys...the farther this game is going to go.

Its a big ol world you have here. Sometimes its overwhelming what you can do....was to me before, and still is.

Its like Zombo.com .

What you are proposing then, are mini fieifdoms...each sim has a liege (elected however that sim wants, either by votes or though a duel, etc) who would then represent his/her/it's constituents at larger level who in turn, report directly to governor Linden (or maybe a rank change to King). The problem w/ the embassy, was that it wasn't hosted by anyone. It was a defenitly a cool building, even half completed. But if you want to establish independant governance, then there has to be a bosy to which it reports too. You cant just say, "Oh I think i might start my own digital country today..." As it stands, i like the concept of instead of just minor groups, u get big ones that deal in cities or something. The problem, is that WWIIOLers is the only group to come in such numbers as to make this feasable. In otherwords, in a civic government, you'd almost always pick up most the seats.Right now, ppl like the more informal, psuedo tribal lifestyle they live in. What i'd ask, is that you hold onto your thought (or better yet, write it down, and submitt) and a town meeting can be called. Love to flesh this one out farther, as it defenitly adds a new dynamic to SL

PS: I wasnt debating that issue (as to the project itself) all I was saying was that my projects were in similar states, and wanted to offer encouragement. But if politics are to be attached to everything....Then I will be the pupiteer. *winks*

Such a system is probably a lot easier to swallow on a place like Jessie (where 99% of the population is from WWIIOL), where we have the same general goals.

Well, I'm only talking about governments within individual sims, not a game-wide government. I also dont think all the sims should have a government.

If the Lindens created a framework for governments within sims, it would give the residents much more control over thier surroundings than they have now. For instance, building codes could be created that detail what kinds of buildings can be built in a sim. Want to live in a mature sim with nice architecture but without ugly porn stores and gunfights? Codes of conduct could be put in place, too. Tired of hearing the guy with the loud radio down the street? Dont want people walking around carrying guns?

It might be tough to pull off, but I think it would be worth trying because it'd open up a lot more opportunities in the game.
