Market Research Poll

I wonder if any of the creators on SL have or would ever consider using someone who set up a market research business?

For example, you would give a (returnable) item to the researcher who then speaks to a variety of residents, showing them the item and asking questions such as do you like this item, giving a choice of how much they would pay for the item, the reason if they don't like an item, if they would like a landmark to the shop/mall etc.

I know the well established creators probably won't be interested, but was thinking more of those up and coming who would find it useful to have some kind of feedback. The questions could be agreed in advance and the market researcher then gives a report to the creator and returns the item. For a fee of course.

I just make things that are interesting to me personally. :0

I honestly couldn't give a damn about what the general public wants/likes. :)

I don't really worry about what other people like when I make something. I either make things for my own use, or to see if I can. If other people like and buy them, great! If they think it's crap, oh well.

Alexa, to start something like this effectively. You need to go out and do a comparison of products, get others opinions as well. Make a complete report on that market sector then try and sell the results to interested parties.

I'm inclined to agree with Jonquille, since generally speaking I try not to take SL incredibly seriously. On the other hand, I have found that a little informal market research is invaluable. For example, I had a series of test pilots examine an aircraft in the design phase and their feedback was wonderful! They offered creative ideas and were, I felt, really honest about the shortcomings of the prototype. It helps everyone in the long run.

Would definately be interested in this thing for my secondhand store.

Can I be your first customer?

Of course you can Jamie :). It is very difficult to find anything different to do in SL and I was wondering and hoping if this might be useful to people too.

Beau - very good advice - thank you.
